The Director, Business Operations, & Capacity Growth I will work across the site in collaboration with the Business Unit and Defense Systems Sector functional leadership teams to help transform the business operations infrastructure supporting management, engineering, manufacturing & operations activities that integrate people, training, tools, metrics, processes, and priorities across the business - with the goal to scale the organization and maximize efficiency across internal sites and across external suppliers to meet increasing demands. The individual will report to the Business Unit VP and lead a cross-functional and cross-program team aligned to common business performance goals.
The position has significant senior leadership contact and will require a candidate with strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to perform in an environment of ambiguity and continuous change. The position must role model Northrop leadership characteristics.
Experience working in a diverse multi-functional organization is a plus; demonstrated skills in planning, organizing, and coordinating with cross-functional relationships required. Looking for a self-starter with the initiative to drive the business coupled with sound judgment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads all integration activities to assist the business with the efficiency of their daily operations from capture and inception through completion & delivery of systems, including planning for future capacity.
Ensures program management, business development, engineering, manufacturing, business management, mission assurance, and supply chain activities (training, tools, processes, and overall infrastructure) are integrated across the organization into the Sector to improve efficiency at the site.
Works collaboratively across all functions to define key requirements and ensure successful execution of integration plans.
Develop capacity growth plans and work to implement the plan across the business unit and supply chain partners.
Proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the organization and develop solutions in partnership with peers, division, business unit, and functional leadership.
Using data and analytics, support development of solutions to current business issues as well as proactively engage in risk mitigation.
Analyze and concisely present information to the management team to enable good business decisions.
Provide day-to-day leadership aligned to responsibilities of the role to create an environment that accelerates development of talent; apply rigorous knowledge management to capture learning, drive continuous improvement, and enhance employee engagement.
Role model for leadership characteristics and assist in driving business growth from an organization and talent perspective, including fostering a culture of belonging.
Play a key change leadership role in organizational transformation aligned to business strategy by creating a culture of growth, innovation, and balanced risk-taking.
Strategic planning and tactical execution of multi-year capital projects to support all programs within the business unit.
Devise and implement strategies for ensuring the growth of programs enterprise-wide and implement process improvements to maximize efficiency and minimize overhead costs.
Support digital transformation efforts across the business unit to enable scaling.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field.
Minimum of 10 years of directly related industrial engineering or manufacturing operations experience.
Minimum of 5 years of project, program, or people leadership experience.
Demonstrated understanding of EVMS and Risk and Opportunity Management.
Experience with production capacity planning.
Strong leadership, influence, and project management skills.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Experience with DoD customers and/or partners.
Occasional travel (Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in all aspects of the engineering and manufacturing process, from requirements analysis to operations through verification and validation testing.
Experience with all aspects of the product development / delivery process.
The ability to lead diverse teams and a strong leadership background is required.
Understanding of key Sector tools, processes, training, and infrastructure.
Salary Range:
$173,300 - $259,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
