We are currently seeking an Assistant Attorney General for an opening in the Charitable Law Section, primarily as counsel for the Bingo Unit. The Bingo Unit of the Charitable Law Section is responsible for the regulation and oversight of bingo, a major source of charitable fundraising in Ohio. The successful candidate should be experienced, licensed, have a passion for public service, demonstrated commitment to protecting the unprotected, and possess an ability to work effectively with diverse groups.The Charitable Law Section is committed to honoring the important role of non-profits in Ohio. Oversight is critical: One of the section's main tasks is to ensure that charitable bingo is conducted in accordance with law and that the charitable funds reach their intended beneficiaries. The attorney selected for this role will investigate and prosecute violations of Charitable Bingo laws in administrative hearings and will advise on bingo matters related to licensing and inspection of bingo game operations and bingo manufacturers and distributors. In cases that result in litigation, attorneys will serve as lead counsel through all phases of civil litigation from drafting and filing complaints, discovery, settlement negotiations, motion practice, trial, and appeal. Additionally, attorneys will represent the Attorney General in drafting legislation and administrative rules related to the regulation of charities and charitable gaming in Ohio. Applicants should possess significant litigation experience, have excellent research and writing skills, and have the proven ability to work proactively, to think creatively and innovatively, and to handle complex matters.This position will work a remote schedule. There may be changes to this schedule based on training and operational needs. The position will be headquartered at any of our offices around Ohio: Columbus, Cleveland, Toledo, Boardman, or Cincinnati.
