Senior Staff Accountant

As a key player in their organization, the Senior Staff Accountant will help ensure financial integrity and support our mission of transforming lives and building stronger communities.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

Prepare and review comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. Ensure accuracy and compliance with non-profit accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

General Ledger Management:

Oversee and maintain the general ledger by recording and reconciling journal entries, managing account balances, and ensuring accurate financial records.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Assist in the development, monitoring, and analysis of annual budgets. Provide variance analysis and support financial forecasting to guide organizational planning.

Grants Management:

Track, manage, and report on grant funds, ensuring compliance with grant agreements. Prepare financial reports and documentation for funders and grantors.

Audit Support:

Facilitate internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation, responding to audit inquiries, and addressing any findings or recommendations.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

Supervise the accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.

Cash Management:

Monitor cash flow, perform bank reconciliations, and manage cash forecasts to maintain adequate liquidity for organizational needs.

Policy and Procedure Development:

Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls and improve financial processes.

Team Leadership:

Lead, mentor, and support junior accounting staff, fostering professional development and ensuring effective team performance.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

4+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on non-profit financial management. Experience with fund accounting, grants management, and compliance is highly desirable.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or similar certification preferred.

Skills:

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles and regulations.

Attention to Detail:

Exceptional analytical skills with a meticulous approach to financial reporting and record-keeping.

Communication:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, donors, and auditors.
