OVERVIEW OF POSITION

The Senior Accountant will manage the revenue cycle of awards, and support related accounting activities in collaboration with regional and other national offices. The Senior Accountant reports to the Director of Accounting and works with other financial team members along with program and operations staff at all levels of the organization. This position provides financial information to management teams at different ECC sites.

$70,000-$82,500

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Receivable and Revenue

Working with finance and development staff, initiate billing invoices related to grants and contracts.

Develop the A/R Tracker and aging report to ensure timely submission and payment of client invoices.

Assist with revenue recognition of awards and contracts.

Prepare monthly reconciliation schedules including grant and contract A/R, unbilled, and deferred.

Prepare the monthly net asset roll forward.

Support the annual revenue budgeting process.

Prepare quarterly/annual donor financial reports.

Operations

Provide support to the annual organizational audit and annual Form 990 preparation.

Perform monthly bank reconciliation.

Support the implementation of a purchase order system.

Organize budget meetings with Directors.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.

Minimum three years of accounting experience.

Experience with accounting software QuickBooks Online.

Solid understanding of accounting theory, including the interactions between the balance sheet and statement of activities.

Prior experience in award management including invoicing, A/R, reporting, revenue recognition in a nonprofit setting is highly preferred.

Demonstrated ability in analyzing data and making data-driven recommendations.

Experience implementing policies and procedures in a complex organization.

Knowledge of MS Office with advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point.

Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and proof-reading skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality, discretion and sensitivity.

Able to effectively prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks.
