RVI entered the reinsurance business in 2022, capitalizing on the stability of its core business and strong ratings to help clients manage risk by providing capital-efficient reinsurance solutions across various P&C lines of business.POSITION SUMMARYWe are seeking an innovative Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. Responsibilities will include supporting RVI’s accounting needs with internal stakeholders (lines of businesses, departments and the shareholder) as well as external stakeholders (clients, brokers, vendors, banking partners, investment manager and independent auditors). This individual will support the Company’s growing reinsurance book of business by working with brokers and cedents to track ceding company reports. This individual will also be responsible for assisting the department with various account reconciliations, financial reporting and analytical work.Qualifications include a solid understanding of accounting principles, solid Microsoft Office knowledge with advanced Excel skills working with conditional formulas, pivot tables, and visualization. A familiarity with Insurance Statutory Accounting, general ledger, financial reporting and planning systems is a plus. This individual must have excellent attention to detail and a willingness to learn.In addition to the supervisor, this individual will work closely with all members of the Finance and Reinsurance Teams. This Staff Accountant must act with the highest level of integrity, business and personal ethical standards in all aspects of job performance.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAnalyze & process monthly/quarterly treaty reinsurance accounts, including reconciling broker invoices to supporting documentationReview premium & loss bordereaux to ensure compliance with treaty terms & to identify large loss activityDocument and resolve account or cash issuesFollow-up for missing account statements and informationAssist in the preparation of Financial Statements (US GAAP and US Statutory)Assist in quarterly and annual regulatory compliance for filings with the various state departments of insurances, NAIC and Bermuda Monetary AuthorityParticipate in monthly, quarterly and annual close processesGenerate financial reports and management presentationsPrepare various account reconciliations and provide analysis of results/variancesMonitor various trust accounts to ensure compliance with applicable treaties and fund as neededSECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssist with financial planning and analysis processesAssist in tracking general and specific accruals and related journal entriesAssist in evaluating and maintaining accounting systemsAssist in other ad-hoc special projects and analytical workPOSITION REQUIREMENTSEducation and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance requiredTwo+ years of experienceTechnical Knowledge / Skills:Insurance industry experience preferred, but not requiredExcellent organizational skillsProficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel with experience in using formulas, pivot tables and chartsKey Competencies (self-management, collaboration and leadership):Ability to learn new tasks and skills quickly; comfortable asking questions and verifying information and requirementsAbility to initiate continuous improvements to enhance processes or productsAbility to effectively share and communicate perspectives on informationAbility to undertake multiple assignments and achieve results independentlyMust be effective in working in a team environment and juggling multiple prioritiesMust have excellent communication skillsStrong interpersonal and collaboration skillsRVI Group offers competitive compensation, an excellent benefits package, a 401(k) Plan, and education assistance.
