The Division of Student Success at Wright State University seeks a visionary, collaborative, data-driven leader to serve as the Director of the Academic Success Centers (ASC). The ASC is a vital hub for student support, offering a comprehensive suite of programs and services designed to empower students to achieve academic excellence. This includes individualized academic tutoring, writing support, peer coaching, supplemental instruction, proactive student outreach, targeted support for students on academic probation, and coordination of the logistics for First Year Seminar courses in concert with faculty and the Provost’s Office. This role will be directly responsible for the academic probation support program.

The Director of the ASC plays a critical role in shaping and leading the Center’s mission and will develop and implement a strategic plan to ensure continuous improvement and innovation. The director position will oversee all ASC personnel, budget, facilities, and student services, fostering a high-performing and results-oriented environment. The director champions student success, advocating for the ASC at all levels and collaborating with other divisional partners, academic colleges, and campus stakeholders. This collaboration will ensure seamless student support services and contribute to university-wide efforts to enhance student retention and graduation rates. A commitment to data-driven decision-making will be crucial in evaluating and refining ASC programs and personnel effectiveness. Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree with 3 to 5 years of progressive experience leading and implementing successful student success programs with an emphasis on academic support, OR Bachelor’s degree with 6 to 8 years of progressive experience leading and implementing successful student success programs with an emphasis on academic support.

Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, foster collaboration, and make data-driven decisions.

Strong understanding of current trends and best practices in student success programming.

Experience leading an office/unit that has provided student programming and/or front-line student services focused on student success.

Knowledge of student development theories, academic intervention/coaching models, student persistence and retention data/assessment and high-impact practices.

Skills required include the ability to analyze student academic performance and retention/persistence data, to lead & manage a large and diverse staff, to serve a large & diverse community of students, and to allocate fiscal & human resources effectively & responsibly.

Skilled with technologies, systems, and tools common in higher education (e.g., Banner, Learning Management Systems, PowerBI, Slate, etc.)

Ability to organize and coordinate a structured, comprehensive, & proactive academic support services program for undergraduate students.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral Degree.

Experience leading academic support, tutoring, academic coaching, academic advising, or other academic interventions.

Coursework in education administration/higher education/college student development. Experienced with high-traffic student services office.

Proven ability to lead new initiatives across complex organizations.

7 years progressive experience.

Experience providing academic advising/coaching or tutoring/supplemental instruction. Budget management experience.

Experience with program evaluation/assessment.

Essential Functions and percent of time:

35% Program/Service Development:

Create and implement a suite of academic support programs that support the needs of students that are aligned with student need, use best practices and create demonstrable impact. These programs will range from academic supports (e.g. tutoring) to proactive outreach and support (e.g. Peer Academic Coaching). This position will be specifically responsible for developing a robust academic probation program to be implemented by Spring 2025. Additionally, this position will ensure programs are measurable and demonstrate positive impacts on student academic performance.

20% Supervision:

Supervise four professional staff members and over 75 student employees; create a culture of customer service and professionalism among student and professional staff; create development opportunities to increase professional learning and excellence across the centers’ staff and operations.

15% Center Management & Operations:

Oversee the operations of the three distinct Centers (Writing, Math, and Tutoring) co-located in the space. This includes appropriate staffing of over 75 student workers, maintenance of space, scheduling, budgeting, technology and space management, marketing of services, and other tasks related to operations.

10% Collaboration & Partnership Building:

This position will be responsible for building critical partnerships to increase the awareness, support, and use of academic support services. The primary collaborators will be faculty who teach high DFW courses and/or department chairs where several of those courses are housed. This position will also need to build strong collaborations across campus to assist with increasing the number of students accessing academic support services by increasing student awareness and engagement.

This position may also be asked to serve on various leadership teams, support institutional initiatives, engage in professional development relevant to their position and other tasks needed in the Division of Student Success.
