position will support the

Labor and Employment Group , which includes a robust, litigation practice focused on defending employers in single- and multi-plaintiff lawsuits involving wage-and-hour issues, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, racial discrimination, disability accommodation, retaliation, defamation, medical leave, and trade secret misappropriation, among others.

This position works full-time, on-site, five days per week.The

work closely with attorneys and team members to proactively oversee case management from inception through and after trial or settlement; draft, review, and revise legal documents; maintain case files and update charts and indices; support and manage witness summaries and document productions; assist with deposition and hearing preparation, including identifying and gathering exhibit documents and creating witness outlines; cite-check briefs, including both legal and factual citations; assist with document review and coordinate with the Litigation Support Group for back-end database management using iPro, or other recognized review platforms.Essential FunctionsThe position’s essential functions include but are not limited to the following:Document Processing: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft, review and format court pleadings according to applicable court rules and generate TOAs and TOCs, which implies a depth of knowledge regarding court rules (federal, state), and in-person/electronic filing. Knowledge of Federal and State position statement processes is a plus.Work closely with attorneys and team members to oversee case management from inception through completion of the matter (e.g., settlement, trial).Calendaring: Superior organizational skills with a demonstrated understanding of calendaring practices (e.g., CompuLaw), to keep attorney(s) abreast of upcoming deadlines.Technology: Literacy in various software packages (e.g., MS Office, iManage, CCC Macros, time and billing software, Adobe), to include quick and accurate typing speed.Proofread and cite-check briefs.Draft and arrange for service of subpoenas.Obtain case-related documents informally from third parties.Coordinate among vendors for litigation support services.Assist with document review and coordinate with Litigation Support for back-end database management utilizing the Firm’s eDiscovery applications.Perform litigation support duties such as Bates stamping exhibits, preparing spreadsheets and CDs, hyperlinking PDFs, reviewing litigation dockets, and ensuring that dates are calendared correctly.Detailed entry of any billable-time.Work extended hours as needed, and travel as required for case support.Maintain composure and work efficiently and accurately during high-energy situations involving frequently changing circumstances.Demonstrate excellent customer support while simultaneously managing multiple issues and projects.Work cordially, cooperatively, and productively with Firm employees.QualificationsAbility to work and bill as a paralegal under Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code section 6450.Minimum of five (5) years of recent experience working as a California paralegal with a law firm or in-house legal department.Strong Office365 skills, with an emphasis on Word (CCC macros, templates and styles is a plus), Excel, iManage, and CompuLaw.Strong legal research database skills and experience with Westlaw and/or Lexis.Understanding and knowledge of legal procedures, rules of court, and local rules.Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work well under stress.Strong analytical, written, and verbal skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently with little or no direction.Ability to effectively function in a team environment, including but not limited to the ability to be open minded, cordial, and cooperative with Firm employees.Demonstrated ability to maintain high ethical standards and strict confidentiality of all information that the employee may receive as a result of their role.Demonstrated ability to maintain and update skills as required by the position.Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints and within budget.Ability to communicate in person and by phone with a diverse group of attorneys, staff, and vendors to provide information with courtesy and tact.The following qualifications are preferred :At least 5 years of California civil litigation experience in litigation (law and motion), including document management, drafting, and revising pleadings, discovery, and trial preparation.Trial experience helpful.Salary/Compensation:Salary is up to
