Reports to: Director of Finance

Job Summary
Under general supervision, this position directs the daily activities of the finance department in the areas of accounting, budgeting, and payroll in accordance with District, State, and Federal requirements.

Job Functions
  • Perform daily activities of the accounting, financial, and payroll functions of the District.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts monthly, including bank statements.
  • Assists the Director of Finance with the ongoing monitoring and analysis of program and department budgets.
  • Assist in developing all District revenue and expenditure budgets and forecasts.
  • Manages payroll process of the District including semi-monthly payroll processing, 403b management, quarterly and annual payroll reporting.
  • Coordinate and oversee the District financial audit and the preparation of the necessary reports, schedules, and workpapers.
  • Provide training and support to users of financial information maintained on District financial software. Assist in the implementation of internal controls and procedures for compliance and efficiencies, as needed.
  • Assist in the cost analysis of District negotiated contract proposals.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred.
  • Associate Degree in Accounting/Financial required and 3+ years experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in with Minnesota school districts preferred.
  • Experience with Skyward finance system preferred.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong aptitude for accounting and reconciling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll preparation and applicable tax law guidelines.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff as well as with people outside the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proven abilities in Excel and Word applications, including spreadsheet development.
  • Demonstrated prompt, regular and reliable attendance.

Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision.
