Position Duties:

Supports the Chemical Lab Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Chemical Lab, including managing lab personnel, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards (local, state, federal), and optimizing lab processes. Reviews wastewater treatment, chemical usage, inventory, and hazardous waste. Anticipates issues and personnel problems, then resolves problems to minimize their effect on production. Maintains good housekeeping and enforces safe work practices.

DUTIES:Upholds company policies and proceduresSupports Chemical Lab Manager in all duties and fills in when absentDevelops and maintains written procedures for all chemical activities and analysisSupervise, mentor, and support lab personnel, provide training and guidance to ensure high performance and adherence to lab procedures. Work scheduling also includes placing employees in appropriate positions to increase productivityEnsure the lab operates in compliance with all safety regulations, environmental guidelines, andi ndustry standards. Including local, state, and federal policies. Enforce safety protocols and proceduresResponsible for chemical waste and dump scheduleMonitor and maintain the quality of the laboratory processes and results. Develop and implement quality control procedures and perform regular audits to ensure accuracy and reliabilityManages and controls waste treatment equipment/operations to ensure complianceMaintains records for employees in the department such as performance evaluations, disciplinary,notes on performance, etc.Implements continuous improvement activities such as new Chemical Equipment, Test Instruments and Processes to enhance quality and optimize throughputResearch new products offered by chemical suppliersDevelops, maintains, and adjusts job routings as requestedPrepares discharge reports, manifests, and other reports as assigned for upper management staff. Management may require reports on safety issues in the department, productivity, and goalsExercises good housekeeping practices - keeps work areas, lab equipment, floors, counter tops,cabinets, etc. clean and organizedWork with production managers, supervisors, and line operators to trouble shoot production issuesResponsible for lowering waste and maximizing plating chemistry efficiencies. This may include more monitoring, more tank dumping (decant), less tank dumping to maximize output whiler educing overall cost through loss of time measured by OTD, Cost of Quality, Profit Margin Analysis.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

SKILLS REQUIRED:4 years college with chemistry background preferred5 years industry experience; preferably in-houseCEF or Plating essentials course preferredHazardous waste training preferredHazwoper training and forklift licenseAbility to maintain a regular and reliable attendance recordFluently read, write, speak, and understand the English languageMust be a US citizen or have authorization to work in the USMust be able to read a ruler/tape measure and analog clockLeadership skills to direct employees toward production goals - motivate, influence, and trainExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMust be familiar with the methods of production used in the department including machinery/equipment/ instrumentsExperience in establishing department objectives/goals, enhancing production, and accomplishing intended resultsDetail orientated to monitor ongoing activities in the organizationOutstanding customer service skills and the ability to maintain composure in stressful situationsPossess excellent decision making and organizational skillsFamiliarity with plating specs and company spec libraryWorking knowledge of our plating process characteristics and limitationsAbility to read and interpret blueprints• Ability to multitaskElevated math skills requiredProficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
