Graduates leave Saint Mary’s Hall confidently armed with the skills, knowledge, study habits, and self-awareness needed to thrive in college and find fulfillment in life.Position DescriptionSaint Mary’s Hall seeks an innovative, strategic, and dynamic Head of Admission & Enrollment Management to provide visionary leadership for its comprehensive admission program. The Head is responsible for developing and implementing data-driven strategies to attract, enroll, and retain a diverse and talented student body, ensuring alignment with the School’s mission and values. This position leads a dedicated admission team to foster collaboration across the school community and oversees financial aid, retention, and outreach initiatives. As a key ambassador for SMH, the Head of Admission & Enrollment Management represents the School to current and prospective students and families, peer institutions, feeder schools, and other official capacities. The Head also collaborates closely with the communications team to craft and execute compelling marketing strategies that effectively convey the School’s mission, values, culture, and unique value proposition. Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Advancement and serving as a member of the School’s Leadership Team, the Head of Admission & Enrollment Management oversees four additional members of the Admission Team.ResponsibilitiesOversee the Office of Admission, collaborating with the Head of School, Development, Communications, academic staff, and administration to establish admission goals aligned with the School’s strategic objectives.Supervise, support, and guide a team of four direct reports, including the Associate Head of Admission & Enrollment Management, Director of Admission Programs and Marketing, Director of Admission Outreach, and Admission & Enrollment Operations Manager, to achieve annual enrollment, retention, outreach, and financial aid goals.Oversee the admission process to develop strategic plans to meet enrollment targets and financial objectives while ensuring precise, timely, and consistent communication year-round. Provide leadership across all stages, from inquiries and interviews to tours, enrollment, and retention.Develop relationships with current and prospective families, conduct qualitative and quantitative research among families, analyze enrollment trends, and leverage demographic data to continually enhance and personalize admission and outreach strategies by identifying areas for innovation.Develop strategies to address social, economic, cultural, and other factors associated with the enrollment of a diverse student body.Manage the enrollment cycle and collaborate with colleagues across campus to ensure the enrollment process is executed effectively.Oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive outreach strategy to achieve mission-driven enrollment goals and enhance the School’s visibility in the community.Promote Saint Mary’s Hall to all constituencies, effectively communicating the value of an SMH education. Represent SMH at community events, educational fairs, and other outreach activities to generate interest and create a personalized recruitment experience for prospective families.Oversee the execution of admission events on and off campus, including open houses and feeder school visits, and work with faculty, administrators, students, and parents to ensure appropriate SMH representation at events.Collaborate with the Communications Office and Director of Admission Programs and Marketing to plan, design, and execute retention, recruitment, onboarding, and enrollment strategies and collateral.Manage and collaborate with parent volunteers to support Admission Office initiatives.Work with the Development Office to ensure accepted families are adequately engaged, and scholarship donors are stewarded appropriately.Collaborate with the Office of Belonging to ensure mission alignment to attract and retain diverse applicants, students, and families.Oversee the financial aid process and net tuition revenue goals to ensure alignment with broader strategic financial objectives.Collaborate with the Chief Financial and Operating Officer and Business Office to ensure the accuracy of student tuition billing and financial aid distribution.Oversee and analyze admission data, providing accurate enrollment reports, benchmarking, and affordability trends to the Head of School and Board of Trustees.Manage the Admission budget and annual calendar, ensuring alignment with identified enrollment goals.Support ongoing professional development opportunities for the Admission Team, ensuring they stay updated on best practices, emerging trends in independent school enrollment, and innovative recruitment techniques.Maintain an active presence in the community by attending major school events and fostering relationships with current families to support retention efforts.Ensure the Admission Team and School adhere to the NAIS Principles of Good Practice for Admission.QualificationsBachelor’s degree (required), master’s degree (preferred)Five years of experience in independent school admission (preferred) and ten years of independent school experience as a teacher, coach, or advisorA proven track record that demonstrates a deep understanding of enrollment best practices, including financial aid and outreachLeadership experience with a track record of change management and leading innovation in enrollment strategies.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (required)Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPointExperience with the Veracross database or other similar databasesUnderstanding of how to use social media as an effective platform for engaging and communicatingThe ability to deliver challenging news to families and students while affirming the worth of every studentA student-centered, collaborative, and transparent leader who is accessible to volunteers, students, parents, colleagues, and other key stakeholders and is adept at building relationshipsA leader with extraordinarily high expectations of themselves and the ability to inspire and motivate othersA genuine care for people, a desire to serve through a high level of customer service, and a passion for fostering diverse and inclusive school communities.Unquestioned integrity and an impeccable reputation, where commitments are honored and people are approached in a straightforward and personal wayAn entrepreneurial, bright, highly motivated, hard-working, and enthusiastic personality with a serious commitment to excellenceA leadership style marked by enthusiasm, desire to innovate, tenacity, follow-through, the courage of conviction, and setting an example for othersWell-developed interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a wide range of constituentsThe ability to move comfortably in a range of social settings and forge relationships within the communityAn ability to think systematically and be detail-minded while remaining focused on the big picture and the School’s missionA well-organized, results-oriented mindset with a high energy level and a strong sense of urgencyPhysical Requirements/Working EnvironmentWork in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.May require travel for events and professional development.May occasionally work events, nights, or weekends.May work at a desk and computer for extended periods.Must be able to teach, instruct, and communicate with students, parents, coworkers, visitors, and other professionals in the English language.Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment.Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
