THE POSITION:
At STACK, the Director, Network Strategy will report to the SVP, as part of STACK’s Development Resources team that will be responsible for developing and executing near and long-term fiber network strategies to assist STACK in identifying new metro and exurban markets. This role requires a progressive leader with deep expertise in network infrastructure, dark fiber and a strong understanding of the telecommunications landscape. The ability to build strategic partnerships to drive network solutions from concept to implementation is also critical. The ideal candidate will have experience with network and telecommunications sectors and the ability to translate and communicate technical issues to non-technical team members, and a strong ability to identify issues and provide problem solving strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy Development:
Develop comprehensive network strategies to bring connectivity to new data center markets
Evaluate current and potential new markets fiber or dark fiber infrastructure
Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making
Prepare presentations, track market activity, and provide reports and recommendations as needed for leadership approval
Collaborate with other business units supporting STACK as necessary, including preconstruction, supply chain, design and engineering, sales, legal, and tax
Network Design and Implementation:
Oversee the design and deployment of network solutions, including fiber optic networks, to new sites
Ensure network solutions are scalable, reliable, and secure
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless integration of network infrastructure
Partnership and Vendor Management:
Establish, manage and maintain strategic relationships with telecom providers, infrastructure partners, and regulatory bodies to support project-specific efforts including initial site due diligence and potential solutions
THE DETAILS:
Location: Northern VA / D.C. area preferred, but flexible for the right candidate
Compensation: 190K - 210K + Bonus
Travel: up to 30-50% Domestic
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Must pass comprehensive background screening
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field preferred
Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in network infrastructure development (long haul dark fiber and fiber optic networks)
Proven record of accomplishment in successfully leading large-scale network projects.
Strong knowledge of the telecommunications industry, including regulatory environments and market dynamics
Exceptional leadership and project management skills.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to think strategically and solve complex problems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office product suite
Strong analytical, creative thinking, and communication skills
Comfort creating processes and implementing strategies and procedures that serve an organization.
Ability to execute, process, and prioritize tasks with minimal-to-no supervision.
Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with internal staff, external consultants, vendors, and other stakeholders.
