Job Summary:

This individual is responsible for maintaining the entire hotel facility, including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs. Ensure the upkeep of guest areas to maintain an attractive hotel. Adhere to all management company required purchasing policies and controls including the PO (purchase order) process. Follow prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and OSHA. Maintain effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs and conduct special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel as needed. This individual is responsible for overseeing and performing a variety of types of general maintenance trade work and repair of property, requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as carpentry, plumbing, welding, painting, masonry, and electrical work.

Responsibilities:

Respond to maintenance work orders and requests from departments and handle based on priority of issues.

Complete tasks using the methods, materials, tools, equipment, and practices of related facility maintenance disciplines such as HVAC, controls, mechanical, and electrical.

Adhere to the occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary in facilities maintenance.

Handle all on-call emergency situations for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Install new equipment, appliances, fixtures, and parts; modify existing systems; perform remodeling.

Perform repairs on appliances, heating systems, fixtures, switches, and outlets, as well as completing preventative maintenance on HVAC, and boiler, water heater and air circulation systems.

Perform carpentry work as needed in renovations, alteration, and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, partitions, doors, windows, wooden fixtures, sheetrock, tiling, and other components.

Perform installation and plumbing work (such as cleaning stoppages and replacing fittings) on boilers, furnaces, water heaters and pumps.

Greet and interact with guests and vendors in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.

Responsible for groundskeeping of the hotel.

Ability to use various hand and power tools safely.

Responsible for the sourcing, interviewing/hiring and technical training of Maintenance Engineer Associates.

Perform all preventative maintenance on equipment scheduled in guestrooms, public spaces, and all mechanical and related equipment as appropriate.

Manage the guestroom PM program per company SOP.

Conduct departmental training on equipment to cover specific points in the daily operations of the department.

Be proactive in always monitoring the general condition of the building and surroundings.

Ongoing responsibility to ensure the company culture is understood and fully embraced.

Responsible for the weekly scheduling of associates for Engineering.

Assist the General Manager in the budgeting, forecasting, and planning for the department.

Interact with vendors and service companies as may be required on engineering projects.

The ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with various personalities and cultures, and with a positive attitude.

Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness, and work with minimum supervision.

Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a positive customer service attitude.

Possess time management skills with the ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure.

All other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as communicated by the property’s General Manager and Anchorage Area Director of Engineering may be assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and move around for a minimum of 8 hours.

Work approximately 40-50 hours per week.

Willing to work long hours, various shifts, split shifts, and on holidays and weekends.

Ability to grasp, bend, and stoop, push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 75 lbs. and lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, and boxes weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.

Able to climb stairs and ladders with potential heights exceeding 24’ or more.

Special vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

CPR and/or First Aid training desirable.
