Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director to lead our organization, a no-kill animal shelter serving all of Hancock County. The Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our operations, including strategic planning, budget management, development/fundraising, donor cultivation, and animal welfare. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of strong leadership and possess strong business management and fundraising skills. The shelter is undergoing a revitalization and requires a candidate that can work with a team of animal care experts and development personnel to help the shelter restructure and grow the organization with a focus on best practices and progressive animal programs.Duties:Provide strategic direction and leadership to the organizationDevelop and implement effective business strategies to drive best practices in animal welfare and achieve organizational goalsOversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient and effective processesLead and manage a team of professionals, providing guidance and supportFoster a positive work environment that promotes collaboration, innovation, and open communicationBuild and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including board members, donors, and community partners such as animal shelters, rescues, and sanctuariesServe as a non-voting member of the BoardEstablish open lines of communication with the Board, keeping them up to date on shelter activitiesDevelop and manage budgets, ensuring financial sustainabilityMonitor industry trends and identify opportunities for organizational advancementEnsure compliance with relevant regulations and legal requirementsResponsible for overall facilities maintenanceResponsible for staff hiring, performance reviews, and improvement plansExperience:Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably as a Director or in a similar level positionStrong background in strategic planning, business development, staff leadership, and operations managementExperience or knowledge of current animal welfare practicesDemonstrated ability to lead teams and drive organizational successExcellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlinesGrant writing skillsExperience in managing budgets and financial resourcesWe are a 100% community donation funded organization.
