Job SummaryCedarhill Animal Sanctuary is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director to lead our organization - a no kill animal sanctuary. The Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations, including strategic planning, budget management, development/fundraising, donor cultivation and animal welfare. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of strong leadership and possess strong business management and fundraising skills. The sanctuary is undergoing a revitalization and requires a candidate that can work with a team of animal care experts to help the sanctuary restructure and build a solid foundation in which to grow the organization with best practices and progressive programs.ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic direction and leadership to the organization.Develop and implement effective business strategies to drive best practices in financial management, fundraising and donor relations.Work with the general manager on day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient and effective processes.Foster a positive work environment that promotes collaboration, innovation and open communication.Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including board members, donors, and community partners such as animal shelters, rescues and sanctuaries.Serve as a non-voting member of the Board.Establish open line of communication with the Board, keeping them updated on sanctuary activities.Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and legal requirements.Responsible for staff hiring, performance reviews and improvement plans.Participate with the Board of Directors in strategic planning, goal setting, budgeting and program evaluation. Work with the BOD to formulate and recommend an annual budget. Coordinate monthly financial statements of activities and submit reports balanced against yearly targets. Develop appropriate tracking mechanisms and gift acknowledgment procedures that are monitored and followed. Identify cost savings opportunities and manage the budget against yearly targets.Serve as the goodwill ambassador, fostering relationships within the larger community. Establish working relationships with local media, community groups, local business leaders, and other rescue organizations. Represent the sanctuary at community and fundraising events in a positive and professional manner. Serve as the voice of Cedarhill and actively seek public speaking opportunities to advance the mission and vision.In partnership with the Board of Directors (BOD), lead and manage a dynamic, long-term fundraising strategy tailored to the operating and financial needs of Cedarhill. Actively participate in all fundraising activities from donor appeals to special events. Participate directly in seeking support from individuals, corporations, and foundations. Work with the BOD to increase annual gifts and create effective revenue generating campaigns and appeals. Identify and nurture new prospective donors. Develop and implement informative and engaging donor and adopter communication programs. Support grant opportunities.QualificationsProven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably as a Director or similar level position.Strong background in strategic planning, business development, financial management, staff leadership and operations.Experience or knowledge of current animal welfare practices.Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.Grant writing skills.Strong development skills including donor cultivation and managing major gifts program.Knowledgeable of labor laws, state and federal policies as they apply to nonprofit organizations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Solid computer skills including the Microsoft Office suite and QuickBooks.Job Type : Full-timePay : $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per yearBenefits :401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceEmployee assistance programFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offRetirement planVision insuranceLicense/Certification :Driver's License (Required)Ability to Relocate :Caledonia, MS 39740: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location : In person
