Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary in Hollywood, South Carolina, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Development Director to amplify the organization's critical contribution to animal welfare in the Lowcountry and grow stakeholder engagement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:Understanding of and illustrated passion for animal welfare
Organizational leadership experience at an upper management level
Experience in the design, planning and execution of successful fundraising campaigns
Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and MS Office Suite. Comfortable learning and using new programs/information systems.
Event management experience
Confident and authentic communication style, that includes polished public presentation skills
Strong, verbal and written communication skills for multi-generational, diverse audiences
Creative and practical community cultivation and stewardship skills
Success driven, executor who stays up to date with progressive fundraising strategies and trends
Competency with budgets, projections, and financial reporting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:Post secondary education, certification in nonprofit management, fundraising or equivalent
Capital campaign management experience
Grant research, writing and management experience
Multi-media marketing experience, including print and web-based initiatives
Graphic design experience (Canva or other graphic design software)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Board RelationsProvide leadership in nurturing an internal culture of philanthropy and stewardship, to support Hallie Hill's mission and strategic initiatives
Engage and guide Board members and other organization leaders in cultivating and soliciting donors
Support the Development Committee of the Board of Directors, schedule meetings, set agendas
Develop effective methods with the President and the Board to identify, cultivate, and recruit prospective Hallie Hill Board members
Report regularly to the Board of Directors on plans, programs, issues, and accomplishments
Fundraising and Donor EngagementDevelop and propose policies and processes to bring cohesion to multi-channel fundraising efforts, through creation of an effective annual fundraising plan
Identify and craft grant proposals to fund operations. Ensure that awarded grants are used according to their terms and conditions
Manage an established capital campaign, to raise $4.2M over next two years
Establish and maintain a donor database with an emphasis on record integrity
Grow the donor base by identifying and soliciting individuals, foundations, and corporate partners
Engage in effective major donor identification, cultivation and donor stewardship
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with community leaders in the tri-county and Colleton area
Event ManagementExecute planning and coordination of four (4) annual fundraising events: The Cooper River Bridge Run, Animals, Art & Automobiles, Laps For Love and Putting For Paws
Increase sponsorship opportunities and outcomes
Identify and develop ideas and opportunities for new fundraising events, peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives and Giving Tuesday and End-of-Year campaigns
MarketingDevelop marketing and public relations strategies to engage community and educate about the role of Hallie Hill in animal welfare
Coordinate marketing efforts to support fundraising campaigns and initiatives
Serve as a spokesperson to the media and community
SUPERVISION AND EVALUATIONThe Development Director reports to the Executive Director, who conducts bi-annual performance reviews and evaluations based on goal achievement.
EMPLOYMENT DETAILSThis is a full-time, 40 hours per week, salaried position, for $68,000-$72,000 DOE, bonus eligible based on achievement towards performance goals.
Benefits include:Flexible work hours and hybrid, work from home schedule. The position will be expected to attend meetings on location at Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary as needed
