We are seeking an experienced and visionary Executive Director to lead our organization forward. The Executive Director at HATS is the key management leader responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, this role includes the comprehensive management of staff, facilities, animal care operations, program development, budgeting, human resources, fundraising, community outreach, and marketing. The Executive Director develops and maintains organizational policies and procedures, ensures fiscal responsibility in collaboration with the Board, and leads major fundraising initiatives through donor relations, grants, and events. As the visible spokesperson for HATS, the Executive Director upholds and projects a positive public image within the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management:

Provide consistent leadership aligned with HATS’ mission, vision, and values.

Implement and oversee programs, maintaining timelines and utilizing resources to achieve strategic goals.

Lead by example, offering coaching and training opportunities to empower employees and retain a skilled team.

Directly supervise management positions, providing guidance and problem-solving support.

Maintain a culture of transparency, honesty, and respect.

Engage actively with the Board of Directors, providing regular operational updates.

Strategic Planning & Development:

Collaborate with the Board and management team to design and implement strategies that focus on program maintenance, growth, and financial sustainability.

Track and measure program outcomes, communicating results to the Board, donors, and other stakeholders.

Contribute in the creation of an annual budget that aligns with the organization's strategic goals, and actively manage operations to meet these financial targets.

Build and maintain partnerships with donors, sponsors, community leaders, and animal welfare professionals.

Stay informed on animal welfare and nonprofit sector trends to strategically guide future collaborations and program expansions.

Fundraising & Communications:

Develop and execute a comprehensive fund development plan that encompasses securing grants, fostering strong donor relationships, diversifying funding streams, engaging sponsors, and implementing targeted fundraising campaigns to ensure long-term sustainability.

Plan and execute fundraising and outreach events, enhancing community engagement.

Oversee social media channels and digital marketing strategies to boost public presence and fundraising efforts.

Publish successful program activities and results through various communication channels, maintaining positive public relations.

Skills and Requirements:

Solid understanding of the animal welfare field combined with a strong passion for and commitment to the care of companion pets.

Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.

Ability to communicate clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing, and to engage effectively in group settings.

Capable of performing effectively in busy environments and under mentally and physically challenging conditions.

Proven management skills with the ability to develop and lead high-performing teams.

Extensive experience in fundraising, marketing, public relations, and grant writing.

Possesses the aptitude to quickly learn and master new computer programs. Experience with donor and shelter management software is preferred.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.

Minimum of three years’ experience in a management position, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
