Medical Director - Women's Health

BASIC FUNCTION

The Women's Health Service Line Medical Director provides servant leadership for HealthPoint's Women's Health Service Line initiatives. This includes but is not limited to developing, implementing, and overseeing evidence-based care guidelines, community initiatives, strategically recommending and assisting implementation of best care practices, partnerships, and improved competencies to care for female patients, but also those needing specialized and subspecialty care. The selected candidate will also supervise and direct the work of healthcare providers to meet HealthPoint's clinical standards, compliance, and patient care needs for female patients.

The Women's Health Service Line Medical Director carries out responsibilities in accordance with HealthPoint values, policies/procedures, and applicable laws and commits to ensuring the underserved patients, HealthPoint's primary population, receives equitable, safe, and high-quality care.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Professionalism and Team Culture

Through all professional activities (patient care, use of the EHR, communication, collaboration) models best practices.

Guide and support providers' professional development, professionalism, and promote the HP culture.

Enhances cooperation between all staff members and departments/programs.

Maintain a patient panel for direct care responsibilities.

Regulatory, Accreditation, and HRSA Compliance

Ensures that the women's health service line initiatives comply with the federal rules, regulations, and codes.

Contributes to follow-up on areas requiring corrective action pertaining to women's health service line initiatives.

QA/QAPI

Work with population health team to improve women's health service line applicable quality measures, performance improvement plans to meet HealthPoint's strategic goals.

Works with risk, quality, and education managers to evaluate opportunities to maintain a safe environment for female patients and their care teams.

Best Practice & Practice Management

Lead and meet the patient visit number goals and financial KPI.

Under the direction of the CMO, ensures providers are adhering to expected policies and procedures to deliver patient-centered care for female patients in accordance with HealthPoint's model of care.

Serve as champion of the EHR to continually optimize and ensure best practices.

Collaborate with HealthPoint Medical Directors, CMO, and clinical leadership in development and implementation of and adherence to care guidelines, clinical policies, and procedures.

Maintains current knowledge base of evidence-based practices for the provision of the highest quality and safest care.

Contributor and required attendee to clinic-wide meetings to bring updates and elicit feedback on women's health service line initiatives.

Attends medical director monthly meetings as required.

Financial Management

Identifies opportunities for revenue enhancement, cost reduction, and cost avoidance as applicable to women's health service line initiatives.

Actively participate in HP value-based care & pay for performance programs.

APP/Physician Supervision

Approve provider PTO request and approval accordingly for the adequate staffing.

Work with HR, Clinic, and Nurse Managers to ensure adequate women's health care provider staffing.

Leads and facilitates a monthly provider meeting focused on (but not limited to) data informed quality improvement, care guidelines, clinic process standardization adherence and improvement, and EHR optimization.

Supervises and evaluates APPs, gives constructive feedback and conducts performance reviews per HealthPoint's standards.

Identifies provider gaps in skillset or knowledge related to provision of women's health care and provides education and training through admin office resource center.

Responsible for APP chart reviews for quality of care and documentation standard compliance with subsequent action plans and training (TMB rule: the physician must review and countersign at least 5 charts per month of patients seen by the APRN or PA).

Performs other duties as assigned.

Effectively carries out tasks and responsibilities beyond core job duties and primary role. The additional duties may vary from time to time and encompass a wide range of activities that contribute to the overall success of the organization (floating, schedule variations, assisting co-workers, patients, visitors, customers, leaders, and other stakeholders in support of the organization).
