Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $32.08 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. You can make a difference in someone’s world!Guiding PrinciplesWe will be a leader in customer satisfaction.We will have a reputation that attracts and retains talented, diverse, and dedicated employees.We get better at what we do every day.What You’ll DoPreside over fair hearings including the administration of oaths, and examination of witnesses.Weigh evidence, rule on motions or objections and apply the appropriate standard of proof.Research the Ohio Administrative Code (OAC), the Ohio Revised Code, the Code of Federal Regulations, and all other applicable state and federal rules, regulations, laws, court decisions and terms of partnership agreements.Write recommended hearing decisions based on testimony, evidence, and applicable program regulations and state and federal laws.Complete all related administrative tasks including reports and correspondence.Attend trainings, either virtually or in person, workshops and conferences to keep up to date on applicable policies and procedures.Necessary SkillsYou should possess knowledge of human services policies and procedures and/or adjudicative hearing practices and procedures which can be further developed during the probationary period.You must be able to operate a personal computer and all applicable ODJFS software applications. You must be able to originate and prepare hearing records and reports and be able to access and research information on the internet. You should be a clear and concise writer.Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. This is currently a teleworking position. Flex schedule will be considered after the probationary period is completed.Travel:

Although the majority of hearings are held virtually, you must be able to travel, as required, to county offices, designated state facilities or remote locations.
