About this Role:

The Senior Communications & Grant Writer is a critical role responsible for crafting high-level communications, managing grant applications and reporting, developing donor funding proposals, handling media requests, and ensuring all materials adhere to brand and quality standards. This position requires a skilled communicator with a strong background in writing, editing, and strategic messaging to support the organization’s mission and enhance its public profile.

Responsibilities:

Event Remarks:

Develop and prepare remarks and speeches for events, ensuring alignment with organizational messaging and goals.

Collaborate with event planners and senior leadership to tailor remarks for different audiences and occasions.

Grant Applications & Reporting:

Research, write, and submit grant applications to foundations, corporations, and government entities.

Manage the entire grant lifecycle, including proposals, reports, and compliance with grant requirements.

Maintain detailed records of grant submissions and outcomes.

High-Level Donor Funding Proposals:

Develop compelling proposals for high-level donors, clearly articulating the organization’s mission, impact, and funding needs.

Collaborate with development staff to tailor proposals to individual donor interests and priorities.

Ensure proposals are professionally presented and align with donor expectations.

Fields Media Requests:

Act as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, providing timely and accurate information.

Prepare press releases, media kits, and other materials to support media outreach.

Coordinate interviews and media appearances for senior staff and subject matter experts.

Review All Materials for Adherence to Brand & Quality Standards:

Review and edit all communications materials, including newsletters, reports, brochures, and digital content.

Ensure consistency in branding, tone, and quality across all platforms and communications.

Work with the marketing and communications team to develop and enforce brand guidelines.

Strategic Communications Planning:

Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies to support organizational goals.

Identify opportunities to enhance the organization’s visibility and reputation through strategic messaging and media engagement.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communications efforts, adjusting strategies as needed.

Experience & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations, or a related field.

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in communications, grant writing, and proposal development.

Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

Proven track record in securing grants and developing high-level funding proposals.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM and grant management software.
