The Center for Excellence in Public Leadership (GW CEPL) within CPS has extensive experience in designing, developing, and providing leadership and management training for public sector employees in local and federal government agencies. GW CEPL is housed within the College of Professional Studies (CPS) of the George Washington University, which enables CEPL to bring to its work the resources of a world-class university, as well as the resources made available by its location in Washington, DC.

To support the mission and vision of CEPL and our partners, the Morris & Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation, we seek an outstanding Program Coordinator to provide functional and administrative support for the Cafritz Awards program. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Business Development at GW CEPL and will work closely with other senior GW CEPL staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the program and answers typical program questions.
  • Coordinates award nomination, application and screening processes and procedures, and engages program alumni from previous years.
  • Provides event planning support for the hybrid Cafritz Awards ceremony and other events, such as selection panel meetings, the in-person Finalists Ceremony, and the virtual Meet-and-Greets.
  • Coordinates with professional videographers, video editors, and writers to help put together video and written stories describing the Cafritz Awards winners’ accomplishments.
  • Assists GW CEPL in routine program website updates, email marketing, and media campaigns (both printed campaigns and social media campaigns).
  • Collaborates with various internal and external program stakeholders to align the appropriate resources to generate program interest and positive publicity around the Cafritz Awards.
  • Keeps thorough records of expenses, working closely with the GW CEPL Financial Administrator.
  • Supports program evaluation and reports back on program outcomes in stakeholder meetings.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. This position is hybrid, meaning some days will be remote and some days in the office. This is a limited-term position ending May 31, 2026.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Ability to interact professionally with clients and stakeholders – in person, over the phone, and via email/social media.
  • Attention to detail and ability to remain organized with multiple projects.

Hiring Range

$21.27 - $27.63
