Position Summary

The

Associate Director of Development, Corporate & Foundation Relations

shall manage the organization’s efforts to secure funding from corporations, foundations, and other community partners who wish to invest in Roosevelt University’s mission through charitable giving. The Associate Director will identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, develop and implement strategic fundraising plans, and write gift proposals and reports. The Associate Director shall partner with senior leadership and program staff to align fundraising initiatives with organizational goals and priorities. The position requires strong communication, project management, and analytical skills to ensure the successful acquisition and stewardship of major gifts and sponsorships.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

A bachelor’s degree

A minimum of 5-7 years of higher education and development experience, or related professional experience. Experience in corporate and foundation relations strongly preferred.

Demonstrated persistency and ability to cultivate and close on gifts over $5,000.

Ability and energy to build new relationships and communities on an ongoing basis.

Strength in developing and executing strategic and comprehensive fundraising plans to achieve goals. Ability to evaluate the success of these efforts through quantitative and qualitative data, and to make revisions based upon this data.

Ability to work collaboratively across disciplinary and interdisciplinary lines, and to interact successfully with a diverse constituency of varying backgrounds.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver an effective and consistent message and communication style that is compelling. Strong attention to detail, and an established understanding of multi-channel communication strategies.

A self-starter who takes initiative, has an ability to work independently, highly developed organizational and leadership skills.

Candidate must communicate and employ interpersonal actions that model responsible, accountable and ethical conducts — in line with the University’s mission and values of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Demonstrated organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.

Adherence to CASE standards and commonly accepted industry standards relating to fundraising reporting. A strong understanding of best practices within annual giving, donor engagement, stewardship, planned giving and corporate/foundation relations.

Demonstrated computer competency and knowledgeable of Word, Raiser’s Edge database management and marketing automation tools.

Work on evenings and weekends as necessary.

Ability to travel in and out of state.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years of professional experience related to sales, marketing, development, higher education and project management. Demonstrated leadership and successes within fundraising. Knowledge and experience using Blackbaud CRM system.

Working Conditions

Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Occasional bending, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 lbs of weight). Regular use of desktop computer is required calling for frequent hand/wrist movement and repetition. Moderate level of stress. Frequent travel within the local, regional and national setting.
