JOB SUMMARY AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

JOB SUMMARY

This position performs difficult technical and skilled work in providing support, training, and acquisition of office automation products and software for end-user systems; does related work as required. Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Technology/Security Services Manager.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force or more occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.Manual Dexterity: Picking, pinching, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.Vocal Communication: Required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.Hearing: Required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound.Visual Acuity: Required for depth perception, color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.WORK ENVIRONMENT

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Provides Tier 2 support for end users; installs, configures, and maintains end-user systems.Provides support for network maintenance and desktop security.Assesses departmental technology needs; develops and carries out action plans for hardware and software solutions; installs end-user software.Provides information for the planning and budgeting of new computer equipment and software.Analyzes office automation products for purchase and sets specifications.Performs advanced troubleshooting for hardware and software problems with personal computers, printers, and other peripherals.Performs advanced systems administration; manages vendor support issues.Provides network integration support and troubleshoots system failures and problems.Works with the Systems Engineer to resolve network issues and plan for expansions.Assists with installing, repairing, upgrading, and troubleshooting network servers, switches, routers, and fiber transceivers.Performs training and advanced-level support for technical support specialists.Completes Information Services daily systems checklists.Ensures all critical systems are scheduled for backup; validates that critical system backups are completed every business day.Reviews and analyzes information security logs and systems for critical events.Provides assistance and support to other IS staff on various operations and projects.Performs related tasks as required.OTHER INFORMATION

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by courses in computer science, information systems, or related field, and seven years of experience in systems/network management. A college degree and/or formal industry certification are preferred and may substitute for three years of experience.

Special Qualifications:

A driver's license valid in the State of Florida. Must obtain City-approved computer certification within one year of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Thorough knowledge of the operation, uses, and capabilities of electronic data processing peripheral equipment.Thorough knowledge of personal computer repair and diagnosis.Thorough knowledge of mobile software configuration and troubleshooting.Advanced knowledge of desktop security standards and technology.Knowledge of Windows server/Active Directory administration.Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 administration.Knowledge of database administration and support.Knowledge of networks and network management software, including Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Virtualization technology, and Exchange Server.Knowledge of Windows and SQL-based databases.Knowledge of the TCP/IP network protocol.Skill in working with outside vendors on wireless networks and wireless camera systems.Ability to understand and carry out complex written and oral instructions.Ability to analyze software programs and program adjustments.Ability to install and configure networking hardware and software.Ability to determine user needs for software applications and oversee project development and implementation to completion.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city officials, executive management, software/hardware users, and other personnel.Ability to write clear and concise reports and communicate effectively orally and in writing.CORE PURPOSE AND VALUES
