Summary
The Advanced Data Architect participates in the design, implementation, and support of Smiley's transactional and dimensional data warehouse development efforts, providing guidance and direction to clients and project team members. The Advanced Data & Analytics Architect interacts with all levels of technical and business resources to meet operational and strategic reporting and analytical needs.
Provide warehouse design, architecture, reporting, analytics, implementation, and integration efforts that include data sourcing and transformation.Help define the process to ensure that the client's business goals and objectives are met by the proposed data warehouse architecture and design.Leverage knowledge of current data warehouse and software development methodologies to contribute to the overall planning of projects by recommending approaches, identifying resources, and developing timelines.Responsibilities
Support database development and requests in MS SQL Server and DB2Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data modelsDesign and develop new data structures in online transaction (OLTP) and data warehouse (OLAP) databasesBuild and maintain ETL SSIS packages (Current need in SSIS, but Azure Data Factory experience preferred)Perform impact analysis on data structure changesDefine and enforce database standards including sensitive personally identifiable information (SPII), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), and data security complianceReview SQL for performance improvementsManage automated database job schedulesSupport global metadata data dictionary repositoryIdentify logical issues between database models and reportsFollow change management proceduresManage Database project changes with GIT branching and integrationsProvide cross-training and mentor other team members as neededProvide after-hours support based on the on-call rotationSupport infrastructure changes as neededAdvise on new technology trends and possible adoption to maintain a competitive advantageOther duties as assignedRequirements
Required Education and Experience
A Bachelor of Science Degree or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline is requiredRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Expert with OLAP dimensional database designAdvanced SQL programming backgroundExpert in creating reports and dashboards in industry-standard tools, Tableau (preferred), PowerBI, SSRSExpert experience with MS SQL Server and SSIS/Azure Data FactoryKnowledge of the software development lifecycle including systems analysis, design, development, testing, and deploymentExpert in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler, and other related monitoring and troubleshooting toolsStrong communication skills including facilitation, presentation, and documentationAbility to capture and transform business requirements into functional and data specificationsHigh level of initiative, self-starter, flexible, proactive, and a team playerExpert in handling large data volumesDeep understanding of data marts, data warehouse architecture, multidimensional databases, data lakes, and data migrationMainframe and DB2 experience a plusLinux/Unix experience a plusStrong technical aptitude and professional maturityExpert with ITIL, Agile, SDLC, and DevOps as a methodologyWillingness to be On-Call and to work with different teams for rotations for the data catalogExpert in administration, security, API integration, creating reports, dashboards, and worksheets in Tableau (Preferred) or PowerBIExpert in handling large data volumes, deep understanding of data marts, data warehouse architecture, multidimensional databases, data lakes, and data migrationExperience in Azure Stack - Synapse, Data Lake, Data Factory, Databricks, Stream Analytics, EventHub, etc.DevOps Mindset, Infrastructure as Code, and Data Ops for the data warehouse
