Cardiac Sonographer / Echo Tech to fill an opening in

Minot, North Dakota.

Daily Responsibilities for

Cardiac Sonographer / Echo Tech:

Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examination under the supervision of the Radiologist or Ultrasound Supervisor.Requires detailed knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and principles of ultrasound.Performs TTE, TEE, SE, pediatric echo including measurements of cardiac structures and Doppler gradients using the computer-assisted analysis package.Performs carotid duplex, lower and upper extremity venous duplex lower and upper extremity arterial duplex and other exams/procedures as determined by supervising Technologist.Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information, and images.Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.Assists in department monitoring workflow, record keeping and quality management.Reports ultrasound equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor or staff member.Maintains a functional work area and adequate supplies.Participates in the department accreditation process.Is aware of differences in developmental needs based on the patient population served and interacts with patients accordingly.Utilizes visual aids and other resources, including other personnel when needed, to assist in the communication andmanagement of various aged patients to optimize patient care.Acknowledge customers and keep customers appropriately informed.Maintain confidentiality.Use proper voice, e-mail, and telephone etiquette.Positions patients for exams to obtain optimal image quality.Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain patient cooperation.Positions equipment and sets technical factors to obtain optimal studies.Is knowledgeable of departmental and corporate-wide quality improvement indicators and their recent performance.Select the correct transducer type and frequency for examination(s) being performed.Adjust instrument controls including examination presets, scale size, focal zone(s), overall gain, TGC, and framerate to optimize image quality.Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Doppler ultrasound principles spectral analysis, and color flow imaging.Modify the scanning protocol based on sonographic findings and the differential diagnosis relevant to and in the specialty.Perform related measurements from sonographic images or data.Interact appropriately with the patient, physicians, and staff.Demonstrates positive and proactive communication skills and demonstrates professional abilities to reasonably interact with others in the work environment.Candidate must perform TEE, TTE, stress echo, pediatric echo, carotid duplex, lower and upper extremity venous duplex lower and upper extremity arterial duplex. If candidate not able to perform then cross training will be expected.Must be able to administer and image echo contrast agent.Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt and learn new protocols on new equipment as purchased, and other skills as cross-training as needed to be defined by Department Director or Ultrasound Supervisor.Adherence to all of Trinity Health policies and procedures, including regular, timely, and consistent attendance, etc.Varied shifts 7am to 5pm Mon - FriOccasional weekend coverage 8am - 5pmNo Call
