Functions

The ILS Supportability Engineer will provide Integrated Logistics technical support to include the following: Reliability Maintainability and Availability (RM&A), Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS), Reliabiilty Center Maintenance (RCM), Obsolescence Management (DMSMS), Maintenance Procedure Cards (MPC), OEM/suppliers and on sight Production & Engineering interface support for the ILS Department. Serve as a liaison between other disciplines including, but not limited to: Purchasing, Planning, Production Control, and Program Management, as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.

Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.Provide technical input and guidance to DMSMS, RM&A, RCM, FRACAS, MRC, drawing interpretation of equipment and material requirements to support ILS Configuration Status Accounting (CSA) and Provisioning.Provide interpretation and guidance of the following Standards as they relate to ILS: MIL-DTL-24784, MIL-DTL-24784/7, MIL-DTL-24784/4, MIL-DTL-24784/22, MIL-DTL-24784/11, ANSI/GEIA-STD-0009-2008, GEIA-STD-0007, MIL-STD-3034Provide technical support for customer compliance comments and inquires during system and equipment ILS technical reviewsLead the development of the ship's Damage Control Book, Ship Information Book and the technical subject matter expert in their development, content and structure.Performs logistics supportability engineering work making independent decisions on spare or replacement parts and supply support problems and methods.Knowledge of and provide input for development of in-yard Preservation & Preventive Maintenance (P&PM) procedures to maintain/protect equipment from in-yard receipt until ship deliveryResponsible for ensuring all engineering change order activity that impacts maintenance is processed, documented and communicated to the ILS Team.Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Reporting Relationship

This position will report to the ILS Manager

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Engineering degree or High School Diploma with 5 years Navy or United Sates Coast Guard (USCG) engineering discipline experience, supporting mechanical and/or electrical systems. 3 yrs experience in ship Maintenance Analysis, Life Cycle Support and/or Technical Writer is a plus. Or 4 years of Govt shipbuilding Supportability/Integrated Logistics/Systems Engineering Analysis experience.

Skills:

Excellent written and oral communication skills is required • Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office products. Experience interfacing with internal/external customers including equipment manufacturers, Supply Chain and Engineering personnel. Life Cycle Cost estimating experience preferred. RMA modeling and analysis experience preferred. RCM certification preferred. Prior U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command (MSC) or USCG experience desired, but not required. US Citizenship required.

This job will operate in multiple environments, including a professional office environment, and Shipboard during the production, outfit, test, and delivery phases of each Ship. The employee must be able to work in a ship production environment, including climbing, entering tanks and voids, etc., in all weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
