Associate Director, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

to join our team in San Diego. This pivotal role will be instrumental in driving financial strategy and delivering high-impact insights for our Commercial and Corporate functions. The

Associate Director, FP&A

will act as a strategic financial partner, providing expert guidance and leadership on financial, operational, and strategic matters across various internal teams.

will leverage their deep understanding of the life sciences sector to shape key business decisions, ensure the achievement of financial goals, and optimize capital deployment. They will be a key player in navigating complex financial landscapes and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to advance our business objectives.

A proactive approach, strong initiative, and excellent follow-through are crucial for success. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Finance and is based in our San Diego office.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Drive the financial planning cycle, including quarterly financial forecasts, annual budgets, long-range plans, scenario planning, and performance monitoring.

Act as a key business partner across Commercial and Corporate teams, providing strategic financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making and strategic initiatives.

Prepare and present financial performance reports to senior management, highlighting key insights and actionable recommendations.

Evaluate the financial implications of strategic decisions, operational changes, and external partnerships, proposing mitigation strategies as necessary.

Develop and maintain a strong partnership with the other internal groups and Finance colleagues to develop and share best practices.

Support evaluation, design, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and system upgrades.

Support ad hoc analyses and special projects across the organization, providing timely and accurate financial insights.

Work closely with the accounting team to ensure the complete, accurate, and timely processing of the monthly close process.

The role requires comfort with ambiguity, collaborative problem-solving, and the capability to manage complex work streams with multiple stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record and the ability to function in a rapidly growing environment and demonstrate creativity, select ability, and innovative strategies pertaining to all financial matters.

The ability to provide senior executives with the necessary financial and modeling information to make effective decisions.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field of study with successful experience as a finance business partner.

Minimum 8 years (without Master's) or 6+ years (with Master's) of relevant experience in the biotech or life sciences industry.

Proven financial analysis and revenue budgeting, forecasting, and analysis background for global commercial organizations.

Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to work within a team, sharing ideas for best practices and process improvements.

Ability to communicate technical or complex issues with clarity to non-financial individuals.

Must be proactive and possess the ability to work independently.

Strong problem-solving skills, especially related to financial system integration.

Experience using financial forecasting software such as NetSuite, Hyperion, SAP, and Oracle.

Possess a basic understanding of valuation principles.

Frequently moves boxes weighing up to 20 pounds.

Base Compensation Pay Range:

$156,000 - $184,000

In addition to base compensation noted above, you will be eligible for stock options, discretionary annual bonus, no-cost health insurance plans, 401k with company match, and flexible paid time off.

Please note: Base compensation will depend on multiple factors, including geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
