Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. Under the general supervision of the Finance Manager, the Financial Analyst plays a key role in the efficient functioning of the Physics Department financial unit. The Financial Analyst analyzes, interprets and implements new and frequently changing campus and federal policies and procedures, reviews departmental and research expenditures within the department. The Financial Analyst is responsible for maintaining a complex and highly detailed recharge database, ensuring accuracy of recharge data and processes, and manages the billing of off-campus users for shop services. Develops templates to facilitate gathering and use of information across the financial unit. Prepares monthly start-up/retention cost recovery for Financial Manager review, submits approved cost recovery to the College, updates internal records to track balances in these accounts and verifies balances with College.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.1-3 years experience reviewing, processing and approving standardized financial data and transactions.Less than 1 year experience tracking and balancing cost recovery accounts such as start-up and retention.Knowledge of financial and accounting policies and procedures.Knowledge of compliance with external regulations and policies.Work history demonstrating excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal and organization skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Must be able to work under the pressure of deadlines.Preferred Qualifications:1-3 years experience with recharge billing processes.1-3 years experience with invoicing.Familiarity with UCSB campus systems including recharge database software, GUS, Online General Ledger, Data Warehouse, UCPath, Gateway, Espresso, and Kronos.Special Conditions of Employment:Satisfactory conviction history background checkUCSB is a Tobacco-Free environmentMust be able to commute regularly to the UCSB campus.Job Functions and Percentages of Time:40% Financial Analysis & Administration:

Responsible for the management and operation of the Department's complex recharge system. Manages over 1,000 accounts consisting of project codes and cost centers for Physics administration, contracts and grants, fabrication accounts, and multiple campus departments, as well as ACH accounts for off-campus users of departmental facilities and shops.15% Financial Analysis/Budgeting/Gift Processing:

Independently analyzes and prepares monthly start-up/retention cost recovery for Financial Manager's review/approval; submits approved cost recovery to the College; updates internal records to track balances in these accounts; verifies balances with College on a regular basis.30% Financial System Management and Record Retention:

Performs monthly audit and reconciliation of the payroll ledger, initiation and adjusting entries and re-projecting entries as necessary.10% Invoicing:

Prepares the final recharge invoices to be shared electronically. Prepare the ACH invoices for billing outside customers.5% Miscellaneous Duties:

In conjunction with the Business Officer, provides coverage for the Financial Manager in times of absence.UC Vaccination Programs Policy:
