JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:Foreign Exchange Specialist 1's are responsible for processing foreign checks (Cash Letter and Check Collection), incoming and outgoing foreign currency wires, and foreign currency drafts and foreign currency banknote exchanges. Foreign Exchange Specialist 1's also handle foreign exchange wire investigations, manage the bank's foreign currency account balances (Nostro Accounts) and reconcile the bank's Nostro Accounts and Wire Clearing GL.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Review electronic Cash Letters sent to Canadian Correspondent, and process necessary entries to clients' accounts, adjusting Canadian Dollars paid as USDPlace holds on clients' accounts, when necessaryProcess outgoing check collections and payments receivedInput foreign currency wires into the wire system, ensuring correct rates appliedRelease foreign currency wires, after detailed review, ensuring correct rates appliedPromptly notify clients of credits for incoming wires, or debits for outgoing wires or returned checksPlace online orders of foreign drafts and currenciesHandle Returned Items (foreign checks) - charge back to client's accounts, with email notification to client and/or bankerProvide Rate quotes to bankers and clients on FX Wires and Forward ContractsDiscuss Foreign Exchange with clients and bankersRespond to FX Wire InvestigationsRun End of Day process, ensuring that all wires accounted forPrepare reports (Statistics, Revenue, Call reports, Nostro Account balance, Wire Suspense)May be called upon to fill in for other areas of International Banking operations and complete special projects as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:NoneMINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:Bachelor's Degree preferably in Business, Finance or Accounting1-2 years of relevant experience required.An equivalent combination of training, education and experience may be considered.Financial/Accounting/Banking experience preferredExcellent verbal and written communication skills - must be able to discuss advantages of utilizing the bank's Foreign Exchange services, including Forward Contracts, and must be able to craft written communications that accurately and clearly describe the bank's Foreign Wire process and Foreign Exchange risks and advantagesKnowledge and understanding of pertinent Federal and International Government regulations, including OFAC and BSA/AML.ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to work under stress and meet deadlinesAbility to operate related equipment to perform the essential job functionsAbility to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functionsAbility to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions.
