Applications are being accepted for the position of Assistant Professor, Spanish (Spanish for Spanish Speakers), at San Diego Mesa College, beginning Spring 2025. Assignments may include some combination of day, evening, and/or online classes.

While the current vacancy exists at San Diego Mesa College, applicants should understand that they are subject to assignment at any District facility at the option of the Chancellor.Major ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Professor of Spanish is in the Department of Languages and reports to the Dean of Arts and Languages. The primary responsibilities of this position include teaching

Spanish for Spanish Speakers courses

for the Spanish Speaker program, and serving as Program Director/Coordinator for the program, contributing to conditions for students to succeed both in the classroom and throughout the campus, and serving on and/or chairing department and campus committees. As needed, the instructor may be required to teach beginning and/or intermediate level Spanish courses.Classes may be taught on-campus, in a hybrid format, or remotely over Zoom. The instructor must fulfill the responsibilities of a community college instructor in accordance with the San Diego Community College job description. A typical weekly teaching load consists of 15 hours of lecture courses.QualificationsMaster’s in the language being taught ORBachelor’s in the language being taught
