Assist the Chief Engineer in the operating, maintaining and repairing of all vessel engineering systems and processes:
Diesel propulsion and electric generating systemsDeck hydraulic and pneumatic systemsFuel and lubrication systemsRefrigeration plantSewage treatmentWater making/desalinization systemVacuum sanitation systemHeating and ventilation systems
Assist the Chief Engineer in ensuring compliance with all USCG manning, watch standing, and operating regulationsEngage in the daily operations of the vessel at sea and in portAssist the Chief Engineer in establishing, monitoring and maintaining preventative maintenance programs on all main engineering systemsAssist the Chief Engineer in maintaining ship fuel and discharge logsAssist the Chief Engineer in maintaining spare parts inventory and making requisitions through AMOS D system following established guidelines and proceduresStrictly support all ASC policies and company philosophiesAttend and participate in all company sponsored training programs as well as outside training in management or engineering related coursesMaintain the vessel as Det Norske Veritas Class Society and regulatory society requirementsSkill and Experience Required
Must possess current US Coast Guard License (Unlimited) to legally operate assigned vesselMust be certified to purchase and handle refrigerantsMust be highly qualified to operate and troubleshoot all marine systems as indicated aboveKnowledgeable in oil spill response and recovery per regulationsKnowledgeable in proper handling and disposal of hazardous materialsThorough understanding and compliance to Marpol regulationsCompetent team leader and participant in vessel’s abandon ship, fire-fighting and man overboard drillsAbility to weld and cut various types of metalsAbility to interface in a cooperative and businesslike manner with company vendor representatives, shipyard representatives and outside contractorsDocumented knowledge of factory trawlers’ machinery and equipmentPhysical Ability
Must meet US Coast Guard licensing standards regarding physical condition, hearing and eyesight minimumsAbility to pass a pre-employment and random drug testsMust be capable of boarding and exiting a vessel without physical assistance by climbing up and down a gangplank or using a Jacob’s ladderMust climb or descend one or more set of steep stairs, or vertical ladders inside and outside the vessel in all weather conditions as extreme as 30 degrees below zeroWork Schedule
12 hours or more per day for the duration of the trip, including loading and unloading.Pay: $13,500/trip average/estimated.Benefits: Comprehensive Medical, Dental and Vision coverage, Life insurance, Accidental Death and Disability coverage, company paid Family/Medical Leave, Long-term Disability, 401K plan with employer match.Ability to work at sea for extended periods of time.Perform tie-up, shipyard and in-port work for required maintenance as directed by ASC management on a 12-hour per day schedule.
