The Vice President of Service is responsible for managing all activities within the mechanical/HVAC service division within Bumler Mechanical, Inc., including attaining and maintaining customers through actions, attitudes and services to the extent that we are recognized as exceptional. The VP of Service is primarily responsible for the profit-loss of the Service Division and the day-to-day workings of the Service technicians and supporting Service administrative staff.

Essential Job Functions:

Overall responsibility for the profit-loss of the service division, including managing efforts on projects, maintenance agreements and service calls.

Direct all sales, operations and business systems efforts.

Assist in marketing and business development efforts.

Recruit, hire, terminate and manage customer sales representatives and union technicians.

Assist in preparing and reviewing forecasts and backlog reports.

Assist in representing Bumler Mechanical, Inc. at local mechanical associations and meetings.

Support, enforce and comply with all safety policies and procedures.

Assist in scheduling technicians and evaluate daily conditions to reassess schedule as necessary, including on-call staffing.

Assist in troubleshooting of technical issues on projects and other mechanical work.

Assist in evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of each technician and manage accordingly.

Manage pre-start up activities and check lists, including confirming equipment is ready for start-up, providing deficiency reports and other communications directly with the construction project team, and provide engineering assistance.

Assist in management of the service vehicle fleet.

Refrigerant management and tracking, EPA reporting requirements, etc.

Assist with other service and pre-construction activities, including field engineering, pipe design layout and submittal review.

Assist with other post-construction activities, including commissioning assistance, collaboration of start-up reports and project closeouts, among other activities.

Participate in project site meetings including site trade coordination and customer update meetings.

Order appropriate equipment/parts and schedule manpower as needed.

Skills Required:

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Proficient with MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

Ability to qualify prospects and close sales leads.

Experience in design and estimating of mechanical/HVAC systems.

Leadership and problem-solving skills.

Ability to lead and adapt in a demanding, ever-changing environment.

Takes a collaborative approach to getting the work done.

Physical ability to conduct regular site walks.

Must hold a valid driver’s license.

Essential Physical Abilities:

Willing to travel to local project sites as required.

Willing to work remote and telecommute as required.

Ability to meet highest attendance requirements.

Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.

Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.

Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.

Could involve some lifting.
