Under the general direction of the Site Superintendent, the Staff Services Manager I supervises comprehensive personnel services to enable the California School for the Deaf to fulfill legislative mandates of educating students. Trains and delegates work related to transactions, credentials, staffing, position control, progressive discipline, classification and pay, labor relations, return to work, employee development, interpreting and translating to the analysts, technical and clerical staff in the human resources department. Advises and trains managerial and supervisory staff in all areas of personnel management, including but not limited to effective hiring and performance management. Researches, analyzes and interprets various laws, rules, regulations, policies and memoranda of understanding. Serves as a liaison to CDE Headquarter Staff in all areas of Human Resources. Confers with control agencies on personnel procedures, policies and payroll issues. (See detailed duty statement).

Working Conditions

Subject to fingerprinting and criminal record clearance by the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation and Tuberculosis clearance.
