Our law firm seeks an attorney with 5 or more years of experience defending employers in wage and hour class actions, actions filed under the California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA), and single-plaintiff matters. Candidates must be licensed to practice in California. The title of the position will depend on experience and qualifications.
Job Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of litigation (including class, collective and PAGA actions and single-plaintiff actions), evaluating claims, handling mediation, taking depositions, engaging in motion practice, and preparing for and taking cases to arbitration and trial. Litigation may also involve administrative charge work, including preparing position statements. Depending on experience, the position may also be responsible for working with senior attorneys to counsel HR professionals and business executives on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and providing strategic thinking in avoiding and resolving employment disputes.
Qualifications
Active California State Bar membership.5+ years of experience handling employment litigation in California, handling wage and hour class, collective, or PAGA actions.Substantial experience handling employment litigation in California, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and leave interference claims (preferably representing management).Experience handling charges before the EEOC and similar state or local agencies.Experience drafting employment policies (preferred).Experience counseling employers on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (preferred).Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.Ability to efficiently and successfully handle a variety of matters simultaneously to meet client demands.Excellent research, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, including public speaking.
