This role reports to the Director, Global Insurance. The role is to lead the insurance management function for the Americas region and serve as advisor and backup to the Director, Global Insurance, working in partnership with legal, insurance brokers, insurance companies and loss adjusters. This individual will have a high level exposure to senior management in the US as he/she is the most senior insurance professional in the Americas. While this position will provide primary leadership for the Insurance organization in the Americas, it will also serve in a backup leadership capacity for overall global insurance matters.

A Day In The Life:

Set the strategy and lead the placement of the US liability insurance programs, including, but not limited to, workers compensation, general liability, Owner/Contractor Insurance Program (OCIP), ERISA, terminal liability, construction all risk, pollution legal liability and financial assurance.Lead the major property and liability claims in the US in close collaboration with legal, business groups and insurers. Responsible for the management and/or supervision of insurance claims process for the Americas region including, but not limited to, general liability, workers compensation, construction all risk and OCIP, ensuring timely collection of reimbursements.Support negotiation of the global LYB insurance programs, with a focus on US liability issues, in close cooperation with the Director, Global Insurance, ensuring policies are in place on time and within budget. Support collection of underwriting information to brokers and underwriters.Serve as the subject matter expert on insurance matters for the US management team and support contract negotiations on insurance matters. Work closely with Legal and Procurement to assure the best possible outcomes for LyondellBasell in event of contractor accidents, injuries or contract disputes.Deliver timely and accurate management reports/information regarding insurance programs and claims.Select, manage, develop and supervise the US insurance staff, ensuring the performance of duties and delivery of service.Serve as a member of the Crisis Management Team, supporting the community recovery process as and when required and ensure the process is up to date and relevant.Provide insurance overview presentations to various internal groups to support compliance and education goals.Supervise/manage liaison with third party verification of contractor insurance as part of Supplier and Contractor Qualification Process.Support the risk engineering surveys in the Americas including the annual risk engineering Operational Excellence days.Review sales contracts and advise on insurance clauses and product liability aspects.You Bring This Value:

Education:Requires a B.S. or B.A. (engineering, legal or business degree).Work Experience:15+ years or more of relevant work experience including five years of supervisory experience in insurance/risk management, or liability broker for the energy industry.
