The position monitors, forecasts, and manages major capital investment costs for upstream and downstream developments. The employee will track the supply, demand, and cost dynamics in categories such as steel, bulk materials, labor, etc.The Team:

The Capital Cost team is a part of the S&P Global Costs and Supply Chain group. The team monitors, forecasts, and manages major capital investment costs for upstream and downstream developments. The team tracks supply, demand, and cost dynamics in categories such as steel, bulk materials, labor, etc.The Impact:

The Service helps clients better anticipate the costs associated with producing two vital energy products, oil and natural gas. Our group operates on a quarterly publishing schedule which gives analysis opportunity to plan and pace themselves.Some international travel may be required.Responsibilities:Conduct market research and analytics for all quarterly and annual deliverables.Act as the subject matter expert for the steel and nonferrous metals market by monitoring, analyzing, and forecasting metal prices.Research includes staying abreast of steel and nonferrous metals market trends, trade flows, pricing, general market dynamics, and individual company analyses.Assist in developing and delivering market presentations by obtaining existing material and creating new content as required.Maintain data in models and in databases for internal and external deliverables.Actively participate in forecast model development efforts, including equation estimation.Collaborate with other cross-functional teams on research tasks.Support the team with client questions and ad-hoc requests by providing timely, well-thought-out, and collaborative market views and insights.What We’re Looking For:At least 4-5 years of experience analyzing the upstream oil and gas market.Exposure or prior experience researching steel and metal markets.Previous experience presenting complex ideas in a clear and concise manner to small and large audiences.Advanced spreadsheet skills (MS Excel) & intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office applications.Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.Comprehensive understanding of basic economic principles such as supply and demand and pricing strategies.Bachelor’s degree in engineering, statistics, economics, or mathematics. A master’s degree is considered a plus.Excellent English speaking and writing capabilities.Compensation/Benefits Information (This section is only applicable to US candidates):S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position starts at $120,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographical location as well as experience and qualifications for the role. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan and additional S&P Global benefits.Right to Work Requirements:
