Fiscal Accounts Technician II

positions. These positions are open to anyone who meets the

The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies in this classification.Nature of WorkThe two vacancies for the Fiscal Accounts Technician II are located in the Accounts Receivable Section and the Voucher’s Payable Section.Accounts Receivable SectionThe main purpose of this position is to prepare invoices for the recovery of costs when a third-party damages state property, and for recovering costs associated with traffic control services and cleanup cost services provided by SHA. This position receives directions from a team leader in the work unit regarding cancellation of debts through MDOT Standard Accounting and Reporting System (MSTARS), the transferring of debts for collection by the Central Collections Unit (CCU) through the CCU database, the distribution of Maryland’s motor vehicle crash reports, the filing of claims with insurance companies, and the filing and storage of records. This position also records billed invoices and paid invoices in the Claim Database and the Crash Report Management System (CRMS). Additional responsibilities include making deposits into the SHA’s Payroll Revolving Account as well as writing checks from and making deposits into the Working Fund, the Special Right of Way, and the Tenants Escrow Fund. This position is responsible for assisting in the reconciliation of the Working Fund account monthly.Vouchers Payable SectionThis position is responsible for reviewing invoices to ensure that the vendor’s name, address, payment amount and mail code data are correct. This position transmits all invoices in MSTARS and then submits them to The Comptroller’s Office for payment. This position also occasionally helps with reviewing invoices to ensure that the accounting information and mail code data are correct and making the necessary corrections before the invoices are posted in the Enhanced Procurement Information Control System (EPICS).MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education : Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.Experience : One (1) year of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should possess knowledge of Microsoft Excel.Notes:Experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.TO APPLY:
