We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Occupational Therapist to join our fast-paced multi-disciplinary team. The Occupational Therapist will assess, develop, and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students primarily non-verbal and non-ambulatory, with brain injuries or brain-based disorders. This role also involves participating in research efforts related to assigned students and the organization's broader research initiatives. Key attributes for success include strategic focus, individual leadership, innovation, continuous improvement, effective communication with stakeholders, and accountability for results.Job Responsibilities:Evaluate students' functional status using validated standardized clinical assessment tools during evaluations, quarterly assessments, and as needed.Using standardized assessment tools, establish treatment goals based on parent input and clinical decision-making.Plan, implement, and modify Plans of Care (POC) based on standardized assessments, evidence-based practices, and data-driven treatment outcomes.Prepare and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to remain current.Coordinate treatment strategies with the interdisciplinary student team.Provide instruction and education to patients, families, and caregivers to improve care quality and enhance student outcomes.Participate in multidisciplinary patient care conferences and team meetings.Provide accurate and timely documentation of treatment sessions, weekly and quarterly reports, student-care-specific forms, and Letters of Medical Necessity (LMNs).Participate in approved educational and clinical research activities.Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary/inter-disciplinary team, including special education teachers, speech therapists, physical therapists, teachers of the visually impaired, teachers for the deaf and hard of hearing, assistive technologists, music therapists, nurses, research assistants/paraprofessionals, neuropsychologists, and social workers.Regularly collaborate with parents and involve them in their child's activities and progress.Utilize a multi-sensory approach incorporating art, music, and technology to design lessons and treatment plans that enhance students' communication, social, and life skills.Attend and actively participate in all mandatory training sessions.Assist in developing and implementing educational modules for staff in-services and accrediting bodies, including the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy working environment for students and staff by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Maintain confidentiality of school records based on HIPAA/FERPA regulations.Perform other discipline-specific responsibilities based on organizational needs for service delivery, research, and continuing education.Research and Innovation Duties:Prepare and submit IEP reports with media quarterly.Prepare and submit session notes daily.Promptly report seizure-like events with media, as applicable.Participate in Grand Rounds, including preparing slides, attending training meetings, practice sessions, and giving formal presentations quarterly.Help research assistants/paraprofessionals understand their student's IEP and formulate in-depth student-specific research questions.Identify three or more knowledge gaps or competency areas annually for continuing education.Qualifications:Valid Washington D.C. License as an Occupational Therapist (or eligibility for licensure).Preferred: Two years of clinical experience in Pediatric Occupational Therapy working with children with brain-based disorders and neurological involvement.Exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to take initiative and adapt to a highly flexible work environment.Ability to lift at least 50 pounds independently.Detail-oriented, focused, highly motivated, and able to work as a team.A good sense of humor.Preferred: Research experience and NDT training.Experience in Pediatric OT: Preferred two years.Benefits:Health insuranceDental insuranceVision insurancePaid time offTransportation Management AccountJob Type:Full-time / In-personHours:Monday through Friday, typically 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.Salary Range:$75,000 to $90,000 (based on experience)
