LHH is looking for a Controller to work for one of our dynamic clients in the Chicagoland area. The Controller is a key member of the finance team and will be responsible for leading all aspects of financial management and reporting. This role will play a crucial role in shaping the organizations financial strategy, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and providing insights to support growth of the business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, exceptional leadership skills, and a track record of driving results in a financial environment.The Controller will be responsible for the following:Oversee the company's accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.

Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements and reporting packages.

Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP, statutory requirements, and industry regulations.

Prepare and analyze financial statements, variance analysis, and key performance indicators to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.

Manage the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with department heads to develop financial plans and targets.

Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals to facilitate audits, reviews, and tax filings.

Provide strategic financial guidance and support to senior management, including financial modeling, scenario analysis, and decision support.

Evaluate and optimize accounting processes and systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback.

Stay up to date with emerging accounting standards, regulatory changes, and industry trends, and ensure compliance and alignment with best practices.

The Controller will need to have the following qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification required.

10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller.

Thorough knowledge of GAAP principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.

Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence decision-making.

Proven leadership capabilities, with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.

Strategic mindset with the ability to think analytically and provide actionable insights to support business objectives.

Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

This posting is a representative sample of the types of roles we typically place with our clients. Depending on the specific client, location, and role, the salary range is estimated to be $130,000 to $150,000 and benefits may include
