The Director of Safety and Risk role is responsible for managing the health and safety process for risk reduction, injury prevention, and safety and environmental regulatory compliance as well as DOT regulations at all our locations in the US and Canada. This role will be responsible for partnering with Operations, Maintenance and Post-Collections Leadership to assess the effectiveness of safety, environmental, and security policy/protocol efforts and assists with implementing strategies for continuous improvement. Build KPIs for Safety Effectiveness. This position serves as the subject matter expert in DOT, OSHA and EHS and is responsible for implementing and executing environmental and safety programs that effectively lead to the safety culture. Management of compliance with all applicable federal, state and/or local DOT and Environmental, Health and Safety legislation.

Essential Duties

Monitor compliance with the Hours of Service (HOS) regulations through audits.Monitor Driver/Vehicle Examination Reports (DVIR) and Safety Inspections.Partner with the Operations team to ensure employees' compliance with corporate safety policies and procedures. Conduct roadside inspections of company equipment passing through DOT weigh stations & checkpoints.Assist with the Learning Management System (LMS) and ensure interactive and compliant Safety Training is available and utilized.Handle DOT complaints under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).Main POC for OSHA investigations and inquiries.Aid with post-accident and post-injury investigations to ensure proper completion of required documentation and reporting to the proper agencies and implement corrective actions.Lead investigation reports on accidents and injuries and ensure that we have identified the proper 'root cause' then build correction plans to ensure training, equipment and employees are making the required adjustments to reduce re-occurrence of safety issues/incidents.Monitor DoneSafe reporting for accidents and injuries. Review employees' accident/injury histories and target issues identified as causal factors. Manage the Code Rule 60 process, workers comp claim management, OSHA 300 logs and return to work process.Create and implement an annual Safety Action plan to improve safety.Assist with all aspects of training and provide ongoing training as new initiatives are implemented.Manage the Insurance Standards and Regulations with insurance carriers, workers compensation carrier, CVOR, CVA, and PSP.Job Requirements

Required Skills / Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree5 years risk management or safety department leadership experience with direct reports.5 years experience with DOT guidelines, OSHA compliance, hazardous material handling and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
