What We Are Looking For:

The Operations, Fleet Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe and punctual delivery of the mobile unit to the designated site locations and community events each week. This role involves operating and maintaining the unit to meet SAC Health’s standards, ensuring patient satisfaction for the Mobile Dental and Medical Clinics. The Operations, Fleet Driver supports clinical staff and providers with the unit functions and is tasked with the unit’s upkeep. On non-clinic days, the Operations, Fleet Driver assists the fleet program by conducting safety checks on other fleet vehicles and coordinating maintenance. Additionally, the driver may help with delivering goods to various locations.

Schedule:

Part-time, non-benefited position. 24 hours per week, 8 hours per day, 3 days per week (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 7:00 am-4:00 pm).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES:

Responsible for transporting patients and guests safely and punctually. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and the ability to interact with various personalities, including the homeless and disabled populations.

Maintains detailed records of all transportation services provided.

Prioritizes passenger safety, maintains accountability for passengers, and assists with loading and unloading, including lifting equipment like wheelchairs and oxygen tanks if necessary.

Conducts pre-use vehicle checks for fuel, oil, tires, etc. Records routine maintenance and keeps the vehicle clean and presentable at all times.

Operates vehicles in compliance with all laws and regulations, ensuring all passengers are properly secured.

Drives a 38-foot mobile unit to various community sites throughout San Bernardino and Riverside County.

Performs pre/post basic maintenance checks, including fluid levels, fuel, and tires.

Prepares the unit for mobile operations by leveling, stabilizing, ensuring electrical power, and functioning waste systems, and unpacking equipment and supplies.

Re-packs the unit for travel or storage, including emptying waste, re-fueling, and securing the unit within storage facilities.

Operates all mechanical systems, including levelers/stabilizers, generator, electrical hookups, waste system, and holding tanks.

Coordinates and arranges the unit’s preventive maintenance schedule and services any malfunctions or breakdowns.

Maintains the cleanliness and professional appearance of the vehicle and completes operation and maintenance reports.

Maintains a helpful and courteous attitude when interacting with patients, visitors, and other personnel.

May perform office duties as assigned when not driving.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.

Licensure/Certification: Class C Driver’s License (Clean Record Required)

Experience: Minimum of two years experience driving coach, bus or recreational vehicle required.

Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Must be able to operate van/bus in a safe and timely manner. Must have good geographical knowledge of the surrounding community and area of Southern California.

Interpersonal Skills: Maintains a helpful and courteous attitude when interacting with patients, visitors, and other personnel. The ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with all levels of staff, governmental agencies, professional organizations, outside vendors, contractors, counsel, SACHS patients and employees.

Essential Mental Abilities: Professional, reliable and flexible, performing work independently and using sound judgment in emergency situations.

Work Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.
