A talent acquisition caregiver will provide more details about the sign-on bonus during the interview process.I. Major Responsibilities:Performs specialized or general procedures according to established AIUM (American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine) guidelines.Operates all types of Ultrasound equipment. Performs portable exams, if indicated, in various areas throughout the hospital to include the Operating Room and Intensive Care Units. Records images and makes hard copies if applicable.Serves as a resource to Licensed Independent Practitioners (LIP's) and students.Assists in the care and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Maintains a clean and safe work area. Reports any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdown to supervisor.Provides appropriate patient care. Interviews patients for required information. Explains procedures to patients to ensure their understanding, cooperation, comfort, and to optimize test results. Positions patients as required. Exercises care when moving patients to ensure their comfort and safety.Maintains patient records and statistics accurately.Labels sonograms properly to assist in diagnosis and to ensure correct identification. Provides test information to physicians. Notifies physicians immediately of results revealing patient risks.Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities:Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility, and acceptance toward all employees, patients, and visitors.Maintains regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.All responsibilities are essential job functions.II. Position Qualifications:License/Certification/Education:Specialized post-secondary training required.Registration required by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), with specific certifications in OB/GYN areas required.An equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates proficiency in OB/GYN areas of responsibility may be substituted for the above requirements providing, as a condition of employment, that ARDMS specific registration and certifications are obtained within 9 months of hire.Unless certification, licensure, or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.Department-specific competencies, including age-specific competencies and their measurements, will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:Work is considered sedentary.
