IntroductionThis is a new assembled examination. The eligible list resulting from this examination will cancel any existing list and may last approximately one year, but can be extended. Failure to submit the Application and Supplemental Questionnaire will result in disqualification.DESCRIPTIONABOUT ALAMEDA COUNTYAlameda County is the seventh most populous county in California and is characterized by its rich diversity and culture as one of the most ethnically diverse regions in the Bay Area and the nation. It is home to over 1.6 million people living in 14 incorporated cities as well as six unincorporated communities and rural areas throughout the 821 square miles of the County.THE POSITIONUnder general direction, to analyze department business system needs, and produce, maintain and update software systems to meet those needs. Information Systems Analysts are responsible for gathering requirements, defining problems and recommending solutions, writing program and database design specifications, modifying existing systems and providing production support for users and their systems. Information Systems Analysts may also prepare instructional material for department staff, act as project manager on projects; and perform related duties as required.CURRENT VACANCIESThere are immediate full-time vacancies for this position located within the Health Care Services Agency, Probation Department, and the County Library. However, the eligible list resulting from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies in other county departments/agencies.IDEAL CANDIDATEIn addition to meeting the minimum qualifications stated below, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated a track record of success in the following areas:Performing data administration by creating, maintaining, and defining database structures, data and security management;Strategic problem solving skills; capable of identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities;Excellent project management skills; able to design, implement, manage and prepare reports for ongoing projects;Strong technical knowledge and skill in the areas of information systems technology;Possess understanding of information security;Successfully develops and maintains effective relationships with others;Excellent interpersonal skills; possesses the ability to interact with key stakeholders;Possesses political astuteness;Experience with relational databases and various programming languages;Experience with Business Intelligence Reporting Software and Systems;Experience with designing and creating operational and analytical reports;Experience with Salesforce Software.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: The equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.Experience: The equivalent of two years of full-time experience in planning, developing and administering complex information technology systems and applications.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSThe most suitably qualified candidates will possess the following competencies:Knowledge of modern computer technology used to plan, develop and administer computers and network systems.Ability to function as a system(s) administrator.Ability to analyze and problem solve.EXAMINATION COMPONENTSThe examination will consist of the following steps:A review of applicants' applications to verify possession of minimum requirements.A review of candidates’ Supplemental Questionnaires and Training and Experience Questionnaires to determine the best qualified.An oral interview which will be weighted as 100% of the candidate's final examination score.RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION PLANApplicants will be informed via email with reasonable notice in advance of any examination process which will require their attendance.BENEFITSAlameda County offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package that affords wide-ranging health care options to meet the different needs of a diverse workforce and their families.ConclusionAll notices related to County recruitments for which you have applied will be sent/delivered via email.
