IntroductionThis is a continuous examination: The examination consists of an ongoing review of candidates’ applications and supplemental questionnaires to verify possession of minimum qualifications. Those candidates who possess the minimum qualifications for the class will be placed on the eligible list based on an evaluation of education, training, and experience. Applications will only be accepted online. A properly completed Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted with each application. Failure to submit the Supplemental Questionnaire will result in disqualification. Qualified bilingual persons who speak English and are fluent in various languages are especially encouraged to apply. There is additional biweekly compensation for persons in positions designated bilingual.DESCRIPTIONThe County, Alameda County, located on the east side of San Francisco Bay, is California's seventh-largest county. One and a half million people call Alameda County home, and the County offers extensive cultural resources, countless recreational opportunities, and an array of fine public and private colleges and universities.BEHAVIORAL HEALTH DEPARTMENTAs part of Alameda County Health, the Behavioral Health Department supports people with Medi-Cal and without insurance living with serious mental illness and substance use conditions along their path toward wellness, recovery, and resiliency. We provide services through a network of contracted mental health and substance use providers.THE POSITIONUnder general supervision, to provide a variety of nursing care services, case management, treatment plan, teaching, counseling, and referral to clients and families in a home and/or community setting. Registered Nurse II positions are located in the Health Care Services Agency, Social Services Agency, and Community Development Agency.THE VACANCIESThe current Registered Nurse II vacancies are in the Behavioral Health Department. However, the eligible list resulting from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies in other program areas.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSFor Both Levels I & II License/Certificate: Possession of a current and valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. Some positions may require a current and valid Public Health Nurse (PHN) Certificate. Special Requirements include compliance with HIPAA and Medicare regulations.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSThe most suitably qualified candidates will possess the following competencies: Knowledge of theories, principles, procedures, techniques, standards, and practices of public health nursing, and the ability to maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively, and respond effectively to emergency situations.EXAMINATION COMPONENTSThe examination will consist of a review of applicants' applications to verify possession of minimum requirements.
