Salary Range : $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 Salary/yearJOB SUMMARY :The primary objective of the Sustainability Engineer is to assist Firestone Walker in an effort to reduce carbon emissions. Specifically, the role aids in the operation, maintenance and improvement of utility systems that support the brewery’s production needs. Systems include treated, potable, and wastewater systems, power generation and transmission systems, and biogas treatment. Further initiatives include water re-use and land application of treated effluent at agronomic rates, development of agricultural plans, expanding use of treated Nacimiento water for brewing, and generating more renewable energy through the implementation of new technologies. This position supports production/manufacturing and engineering goals and acts as the liaison between the two departments so that the plant is successful in meeting its business and performance objectives.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specifically, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following activities:Define and implement sustainability initiatives.Develop agricultural plans and lead objectives to apply treated effluent to surrounding land.Investigate and outline protocol for brewing with treated surface water.Troubleshoot process and equipment problems by identifying and analyzing malfunctions, determining causes of problems, and developing and implementing corrective action.Recommend and implement system improvement modifications and processes to improve productivity, product quality, employee safety, and to maximize equipment reliability, availability, and up-time.Maintain plant property and equipment in good working condition to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and to ensure effective and economical operations.Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives throughout utility systems to increase or maintain equipment capacity and reliability.Assist in development of metrics for monitoring improvements to current and future production levels.Work with plant maintenance department for scheduling of required service work.Help design a good preventative maintenance plan for all utility systems.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:BS in Agriculture or EngineeringStrong organization and communication skills.Ability to operate machinery, lifts, fork trucks and work with tools.Basic ability to troubleshoot low-voltage electrical componentry.Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, precise and reproducible data.Ability to operate in a team and multitask in a fast-paced environment.Self-motivated attitude with ability to take initiative, act promptly and be proactive.Ability to use a PC and proficient in Microsoft Office suite with a willingness to learn new applications.What Firestone Walker Offers:An excellent benefits package including:Competitive salary commensurate with experience and knowledge
