LHH is looking for a full-time Payroll Accountantto join our client growing company in Seattle, WA. This position will be a 6-month contract that is fully onsite at the client location.Job Summary:

The Payroll Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing all payroll-related functions within the organization. This role involves processing payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and maintaining accurate payroll records. The Payroll Accountant will work closely with HR and other departments to ensure timely and accurate payment of wages and benefits.Key Responsibilities:Payroll Processing:Manage and process bi-weekly/monthly payroll for all employees, including salaried and hourly staff.

Ensure accurate and timely calculation of wages, deductions, bonuses, and other compensation.

Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity.

Compliance and Reporting:Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.

Prepare and file payroll tax returns, including federal and state income tax, social security, and Medicare.

Generate and submit required payroll reports, such as W-2s, 1099s, and other year-end documentation.

General Ledger and Reconciliation:Reconcile payroll-related accounts in the general ledger.

Prepare and post payroll journal entries.

Assist in month-end and year-end close processes related to payroll.

Employee Support:Address and resolve employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits.

Assist with onboarding new employees by explaining payroll procedures and systems.

Coordinate with HR to ensure accurate employee data, including changes in salary, benefits, and deductions.

Benefits Administration:Manage payroll deductions for benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary deductions.

Collaborate with HR to ensure proper administration of employee benefits.

Audit and Internal Controls:Assist in internal and external audits related to payroll.

Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard payroll data.

Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency.

Software and Systems Management:Utilize payroll and accounting software (e.g., ADP, Paycom, QuickBooks) for payroll processing and management.

Ensure payroll systems are up-to-date and functioning correctly.

Train employees and managers on payroll-related software and processes as needed.

Special Projects:Participate in special projects related to payroll, such as system upgrades, process automation, or policy updates.

Provide support for financial planning and analysis related to compensation and benefits.

Qualifications:Education:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.

Experience:Minimum of 3-5 years of payroll accounting experience, preferably in a medium to large organization.

Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and tax requirements.

Skills:Proficiency in payroll and accounting software (e.g., ADP, Paycom, QuickBooks).

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Compensation:
