Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Child Care Director is responsible for all operations in the Open Arms Child Support Center including supervision of all teachers; recruitment, identification, and selection of all children obtaining services for the OA CSC program; ensuring the child care center meets all guidelines for operation as per SC DSS regulations; and management of daily programmatic operations.

Position Duties

Monitor daily program operations of Open Arms Child Support Center.

Oversee program's child enrollment process including advertisement, selection, orientation, class assignment, etc.

Ensure compliance to all program requirements according to grantee(s) rules and regulations (First Steps 4K, ABC, DSS, CACFP).

Supervise all program staff including recommendations for hiring/firing, evaluations, certification requirements, staff assignments, completion of required paperwork (i.e lesson plans, attendance, etc.).

Facilitate, schedule, and organize OA staff meetings, and parent meetings.

Develop parent and teacher calendars.

Attend trainings/workshops for program development and adherence.

Assist with publicity of program content/objectives and with fundraising activities.

Maintain accurate documentation and record keeping system as required.

Participate in interdisciplinary process for PI/OA CSC clients.

Access and utilize community resources and/or referral as necessary.

Supervise and evaluate volunteers.

Attend PI staff meeting, supervisory meetings, trainings/workshops, and events as scheduled.

Write and understand language with child care grants.

Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

4 year degree in Education or Human Services preferred. 2 year degree in child care and at least 2 years of experience in an administrative role in the child care field.

Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in a documented licensed child care facility required.

Evidence of emotional maturity, stability, and work ethics.

Evidence of sufficient security and judgement to handle crisis situations and to use supervision constructively.

Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment suitable for varying ages of children enrolled in the center.

Physical Stamina:

Prior to employment, employee must submit a dated report of satisfactory tuberculin test.

Submit a dated medical statement signed by a licensed physician, licensed nurse or practitioner, or licensed physician's assistant verifying the potential employee suffers no emotional illness or condition which would adversely affect child care. A subsequent statement is required every four years.

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

First Aid/CPR certification.

Must be able to pass a federal and state background check.

Knowledge Required

SC rules and regulations regarding licensed child care centers.

Pilgrims' Inn and Open Arms policies/procedures for employees and program operations.

Child care education, public and mental health community resources.

Knowledge and experience working with children from low income or impoverished populations.

Knowledge of First Steps 4K program rules and regulations.

Knowledge of CACFP program rules and regulations.

Knowledge of ABC program rules and regulations.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Experience with children in a developmentally appropriate setting.

Strong communication skills.

Developing child care programs.

Interpersonal abilities in working with various community groups.

Maintaining positive partnerships.

Planning and facilitating group meetings.

Experience in working in an interdisciplinary team environment.

Pay:

$40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
