What you will be doing:As an Epidemiology Specialist 1 with the Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (CDPHP) section, you'll be at the heart of investigating and analyzing injury-related data, performing abstractions on violent death and overdose cases to improve the timeliness of data reporting of statewide surveillance systems such as the Alaska Violent Death Reporting System (AKVDRS) and the State Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System (SUDORS).

Minimum QualificationsA master's degree from an accredited college in epidemiology, biostatistics/statistics, public health nursing, health sciences, health administration, public health, community health, emergency medical services, psychology, the social sciences, the biological sciences, the physical sciences, social work, or a closely related field.
AND
Two years of experience involving significant collection, analysis, and maintenance of data concerning conditions of public health importance such as incidence/prevalence of disease or injuries, social risk factors, behavioral risk factors, environmental risk factors, and/or demographic characteristics.The required professional experience includes but is not exclusively limited to such work as may be performed by a Registered Nurse, Public Health Nurse, Nurse Consultant, Public Health Specialist, Health Program Manager, Health Practitioner, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Physician's Assistant, Health Program Associate, Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician, or Research Analyst with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.ORA bachelor's degree from an accredited college in epidemiology, biostatistics/statistics, public health nursing, health sciences, health administration, public health, community health, emergency medical services, psychology, the social sciences, the biological sciences, the physical sciences, social work, or a closely related field.
AND
