If so, we’d love to connect.Position Overview:This is a Minneapolis, MN based position. The Vice President of Research and Development will report directly to the President & CEO and oversee the development and design of new products and improvements to existing products to support production, commercialization, and quality. The VP of R&D will collaborate with cross-functional teams and industry physicians to ensure that product offerings are cutting-edge and aligned with clinical needs. This role requires strong leadership to maintain a world-class Program Management and R&D organization and the ability to strategically guide the company in adopting new technologies and improving operational efficiency.Primary Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership:

Develop and maintain a robust Program Management and R&D organization, ensuring alignment of product development efforts with business objectives.Clinical Collaboration:

Work with industry physicians to identify key product features and clinical benefits for new product designs and improvements to existing products.Innovation and Insight:

Provide industry knowledge, credibility, and expertise, drawing from medical device or diagnostic-related experience to guide product innovation.Strategic Planning:

Develop, execute, and maintain short- and long-term strategic plans supporting new product development and improvements to the company’s existing products.Technology Portfolio Management:

Determine the appropriateness of the overall technology portfolio to achieve agreed objectives.Patent Management:

Contribute to managing the company's patent portfolio, recommending priorities for patent filings.New Opportunities:

Identify and evaluate new product and business opportunities based on scientific advancements and corporate development initiatives.Technical Oversight:

Critically evaluate experimental results and determine their application to current and future product development efforts. Provide technical, logistical, and planning guidance to resolve research and development issues.Budget and Cost Efficiency:

Ensure cost-effective measures are in place and develop cost-saving initiatives to meet financial performance targets.Cross-functional Collaboration:

Work with other departments to support organizational goals and objectives and foster a collaborative culture across the company.Team Leadership:

Lead and motivate R&D and operations teams, promoting operational excellence, internal career development, and a positive organizational culture.Industry Knowledge:

Stay current on industry trends, new technologies, and competitor activities to evaluate their potential impact on the company’s products.Qualifications, Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree (engineering or natural sciences) or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.10+ years of progressive R&D experience in the medical device field, including at least 5 years at a senior leadership level.Experience in electrode development and medical device hardware and software preferred.Proven ability to manage teams, including vendors and consultants, fostering a culture of inclusiveness and accountability.Extensive experience with Class II or Class III medical device platforms.Experience in business development, licensing, international regulations, and new product opportunities is a plus.Strong communication skills and demonstrated negotiation abilities.Proven track record of implementing projects or resolving issues impacting organizational success.Ability to make effective decisions, analyze complex data, and maintain fiscal efficiency.Additional Details:Contract to hire position.Part-time (20 hours/week) with the potential to convert to full-time.Travel required, on an as-needed basis - 10-20% maximum.Hybrid
