Position Overview:

Conducts installation, integration, and initial operation of the clinical and ancillary information systems server and desktop environment to support the business unit goals. Ensures new hardware and/or software is installed, pre-configured, and tested in test environments and in pilot locations prior to a formal rollout in a production environment. Understands and adheres to project implementation and problem resolution priorities set by IS management.

Implements technical modifications and creates related documentation to support continued business computing operations. Provides thorough analysis, timely resolution, and follow-up to problem issues, assigned tasks, and requests for project-related technical specifications.

Resolves IT-related problems effectively and efficiently. Ensures minimal disruptions and downtimes of systems. Utilizes technical knowledge and experience to effectively and efficiently analyze issues, diagnose problems, and determine resolutions.

Assists in the design, testing, deployment, maintenance, and support of multiple server systems in the organization's integrated, multi-facility health system. Assists in the identification, evaluation, and testing of potential new software, hardware, tools, and technologies. Makes recommendations for purchase and ensures new hardware and software are adequate for projected growth.

Conducts preventive maintenance to current server and systems and makes recommendations on further optimizing maintenance procedures. Evaluates systems for signs of compromise and takes actions to remediate vulnerabilities based on industry best practices. Leads and participates in new site set-ups, department/office/building moves, and desktop and server upgrades.

Accommodates project schedules and answers/resolves support issues when needed by available flexible hours.

Participates as an active, contributing member of project teams. Ensures tasks and projects are completed in a successful and timely manner. Develops and maintains proficient use of project management software tools.

Documents all problem-solving measures that properly allow for other team members to resolve recurring problems effectively and efficiently. Escalates problems in a timely manner to the Manager, on-call/management staff, and vendors as necessary.

Communicates effectively and follows up in a positive, meaningful manner on the status of problems and projects. Participates in regular staff meetings and other assigned team/project meetings. Interacts with a confidential, courteous, constructive, and appropriate manner. Adheres to Capital Health behavior and other related performance standards.

Performs administrative responsibilities necessary to comply with organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and standards. Assists with developing documentation necessary for all planned technology implementations and upgrades, including detailed technical specifications, work plans, test plans, implementation, downtime schedules, and back out/recovery plans.

Assists in the training and mentoring of existing and new employees, including developing training materials and conducting training sessions.

Documents policies, procedures, standards, and methodologies necessary for the proper use and maintenance of network servers, operating systems, applications, and protocols. Ensures all work (e.g., design, distribution, repairs) is done in compliance with all licensing laws, legal requirements, and industry standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Associate’s degree with required experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:

Five years of experience working with servers and operating systems required in lieu of Bachelor's degree.

Knowledge and Skills:

Excellent IT problem-solving skills, strong communication, project implementation, and leadership skills. Experience in MS 365, Azure, MS Exchange, MFA, DNS, DHCP, PowerShell, VBScript, AD Group Policies, infrastructure backups, VLANs, and virtual server networking are preferred.

Special Training:

Previous experience in AD Group policies, SAN, RAID, Fiber Channel, software distribution tools. Virtualization and enterprise backups. Microsoft Server, Active Directory, Azure, VMWare, Citrix, Cisco certifications are a plus. Previous experience overseeing, implementing, and managing server and desktop hardware in a large heterogeneous network.

Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities:

Strong teamwork abilities. Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time. Can effectively interact with staff and system vendors on a regular basis. Experience with IT projects from inception to completion, working independently or with a larger team.
