The Senior Director of Accounting plays a crucial leadership role at NARA NW. This position is responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of the Accounting and Procurement teams, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial records and reports. The primary goals of the Senior Director are to safeguard NARA NW's financial health, maintain transparency, and support informed decision-making by senior management and stakeholders.What you will do:Develops reporting and KPIs to illustrate NARA NW's strategic goals while maintaining this information to help identify opportunities for efficiencies.Keeps the CFO informed of monthly financial trends prior to monthly close.Assures that the month-end and year-end closings are completed and that all reconciliations and reports are done in a timely manner.Collaborates with other departments and participates in the budgeting process and long-term financial planning.Directs the monitoring of and approves expenditures within budget guidelines.Oversees monthly reporting to programmatic leadership outlining progress toward meeting annual goals and financial objectives.Implements appropriate systems and robust internal controls to adequately safeguard the financial resources.Coordinates external audits and ensures compliance with regulatory authorities, tax laws, and financial reporting standards.Develops reliable financial modeling and analysis to identify opportunities and risks associated with projects, ventures, and programs.Establishes and maintains relationships with lending/financial institutions and vendors.Creates strategic financial approaches that allow NARA NW to elevate its financial sophistication.Must possess a genuine and authentic ability to engage with a wide and diverse group of key stakeholders.Maintains knowledge of current GAAP practices, AICPA, and OSCPA standards and other Federal and State regulations.Other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.We would like to hear from people who have:Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.10 years of finance and accounting experience in a large nonprofit and/or FQHC organization, with 5 years of supervisory experience.Strong working knowledge of accounting/business principles, and GAAP practices.Must be data-driven, have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to pass a pre-employment or for cause drug test.Ability to pass criminal background and DMV checks.NARA NW is fully committed to supporting sobriety.Preferred Qualifications:CPA License is preferred.Masters degree is preferred, but not required.Experience working within Native American/Alaska Native community is considered a plus.How to apply:To Quick Apply, go to Careers NARA NW (naranorthwest.org).Look for the position you want to apply for and submit a resume (Required) and cover letter (Not required).Feel free to contact recruiting@naranorthwest.org if you have any questions.This job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of all the responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with the position.Preference in hiring is given to qualified Native Americans in accordance with the Indian Preference Act (Title 25, US Code, Sections 472 and 473).
